INTRODUCTION BEFORE THE MAIN STORY
This is an urban legend which originated from Spain.
It is about a cursed website that is said to offer whoever uses it the best absolute horror experience of all time.
But…
At a terrible price.
According to the legend, the website can only be accessed under very specific conditions.
And if done well then...
There you will meet The Blind Maiden
-----
"You must be alone in a dark room, all the lights must be turned off, you must be using a computer— not a phone or tablet— with no windows open or minimized------"
"Alex..."
"Allow me to finish dude."
I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose as my easily brainwashed friend keeps mumbling about his lastest internet discovery.
"You must not have any other programs on the computer running AND most importantly..."
He pauses, trying to add what he usually calls dramatic effects however I've already had my full of his story.
At this point I just want him to end it already.
"And what?"
"... you can only access the site exactly at midnight," he finishes with a bow.
I roll my eyes, causing Alex to give me a deadpanned look.
He leans across the table in our dorm common room, "Come on, Nate. Try it."
"Try what?" I asked, half-distracted now I've gotten back to typing at my laptop.
Punching my shoulder, he grins when I finally let go of my laptop to glare at him.
He grinned.
"The Blind Maiden website I was just telling you about. They say if you visit it at midnight, you'll see her and she'll show you the best horrors in your life."
"That's lame," I tell him bluntly.
"And it's probably one of those ARG hoaxes. Don't tell me that's what you want to use for your project?"
He scrowls at me, "Hell no. Who would even do that?"
I work my jaw to keep myself from telling him, 'You'.
"Look, I just to experience it."
"Then why don't you try it yourself? You're the one excited about it."
He sighs, "I don't know how to hack websites like you do. Big Mac told us after class that he couldn't open the website when he tried it yesterday."
"Big Mac always lies," I point out, raising a brow at him.
"He must have chickened out or did things the wrong way."
"So you're saying you belief the website's real?" He tells me wriggling his brows at me.
I thin my lips.
I really wanna punch him in the face right now.
"Don't give me that look man, will you help me to check it out?"
I'm quiet for several seconds.
Honestly, I don't have anything meaningful to do when I get home so I might as well just try this website stuff.
Besides...
It'll be fun when I tell him another one of the urban legend he beliefs in doesn't exist.
--------------------
By 11:58 p.m., I was back in my dorm room.
One thing I was glad about was that my roommate wasn't around to disturb me about the 'bright light' from my laptop------ He had gone home for the weekend.
Moving around, I turned off all the lights in my room, drowning my room instantly drowned in darkness.
Then I walked with my laptop under my arm, placed it on my reading desk and lifted the screen up.
"Alright, Blind Maiden," I muttered, typing in the URL Alex gave me:
Watching the Google chrome page load up, I waited to see what will pop up.
But then...
Page not found.
I frowned. "Figures; I told Nate this was a waste of time."
Just to be sure, I look down at the bottom layer of the screen to check the time.
It's still 12 midnight.
Shaking my head, I reach my right hand up to pull my laptop close but then the cursor begins to move by itself.
Lowering my hand, I stare at screen with a puzzled look, even using a second to take a look at both of my hands.
I wasn't typing on my keyboard
Hell, I wasn't even resting my fingers on it but the cursor was still moving till reached the search bar and began to type:
The "a" was replaced with a strange symbol which looked like an eye with a line through it.
It was... creepy, but now curiosity was getting the better of me.
Was this website really real?
If it was, what was the best horror it promised to give?
Pausing my lips, I lifted my right index finger and hit the enter key.
Then the screen went black.
Blinking rapidly I began wondering if I'd entered a virus file, and was already reaching for reboot button.
However just then words began to appear over the black screen slowing typing out red letters.
You have reached the Blind Maiden. Would you like to experience something you would never forget?
My jaw fell open, and I watched in shock as two boxed options appeared beneath the question, blinking on and off rapidly.
YES or NO.
Dazed, I moved my fingers to the touchpad, hovering over it for some seconds.
I was suddenly scared; websites that gave you an option to enter or not we're usually bad websites.
They either spammed you with virus till your device broke down, or the accessed your online credit cards and duped you.
Should I really go ahead with this?
I suppose I'll just be careful; what's the worst a hacker can do to a fellow hacker?
Working my jaw, I stared at the screen, my fingers still hovered over the touchpad.
Then finally, as if in a trance, I clicked on YES.
Instantly the monitor flickered and I saw static.
However I wasn't too worried this time, so far no virus had intruded so-------
Just then my thoughts got interrupted by a video icon that suddenly appeared and began loading.
As it was loading, a display of pictures began shuffling above the video icon, showing pictures of...
People.
Men and women, all with their eyes gorged out, leaving empty eye sockets and blood spilling down their eyes, their mouths open in shock and pain.
"Ouiuuui," I gagged, slapping my palm over mouth and turning my head to the side.
What the hell???
My body spasmed as I held in the bile that was quickly rising in my throat, and it's when I'd calmed down that I realised that I was hearing a shuffling sound.
Confused, I raised my head up, noticing that the video that had been loading was now playing.
In it there was a girl standing in a dully lighted hallway.
Her long black hair covered most of her face and she was also facing the wall, so I couldn't make out her face at all.
However she was muttering words to herself.
Moving my finger on the touchpad again, I tried looking for a volume unit so I could hear what she was saying.
... But found none.
However her voice grew louder then, yet I couldn't understand what she was saying.
Because she wasn't speaking in English.
Suddenly she turned slightly, and I caught a glimpse of her cheek which had gray skin and... blackened crisscrossed veins.
"What the hell…" I mumbled and leaned even closer to my laptop screen.
"¿Estás mirando?" (Are you watching?) She said in a hoarse voice, this time not mumbling to herself.
However I still didn't understand what she was saying.
Hell, I didn't even know what language she was speaking.
Just then my laptop speakers crackled:
"¿Estás mirando?"
I froze
The words weren't coming from the speakers anymore, they were coming from behind me.
Blinking faster than normal, I turned around in my seat, but saw nothing.
I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling my heart pound from the jump scare and I turned back to the screen.
"AAARGH!!"
The girl was right in front of my laptop screen.
Her eyes were sewn shut with black thread and blood was trickling down her cheeks.
... And she was smiling.
At that point a message flashed across the screen, drawing my eyes to it.
DO NOT LOOK AWAY.
My stomach twisted.
What sort of horror was this?
"I'm turning this off," I whispered to myself.
I've had enough.
However just as I'd pulled the laptop screen halfway down, the camera in the video shifted to...
my dorm room.
"What the heck?!!"
I threw the screen back up and dragged the laptop closer to the desk's edge as I peered hurriedly and frantically at what I was seeing.
It was my room.
It has the same posters, the same bed with the same bedsheet and...
... Me holding the edges of my laptop and staring into the looking screen.
My eyes widened in horror.
Then the shot zoomed in on me, and suddenly rotated so it was showing the view of outside my room, on my door.
"Th…" I stuttered.
"That's impossible."
Then there was a knock behind me and my instantly I snapped around, turning my head towards the sound which came from my door.
Again the knock came, this time in three soft taps.
"Alex?!" My voice shook as I called out.
I was scared out of my wits now.
"If it's you that did all these, it isn't funny!"
However there was no response.
Instead the screen on laptop shut down, causing my room to go into complete darkness and me to turn back towards the now black screen.
As soon as I turned back to it, the screen turned back on to show the girl from the video standing outside my door now.
She looked up, her sewn eyes twitching as though she could see.
Then she raised a hand and pressed her palm against the camera lens, blocking me from seeing anything.
Instantly I felt cold air whoosh against my skin just as the sound of my door opening reached my ears.
Terrified I tried to look behind me but then red letter scrawled over the screen in front of me.
DO NOT TURN AROUND.
My throat went dry and I went very still, until I began to hear the sound of bare feet dragging and slapping across the floor.
I jumped up, sending my chair clattering to the floor behind and spinning around to look at...
Nothing.
There was no one in my room.
... And my door was closed as well.
Was everything my imagination?
My eyes darted back and forth, looking around my room in search of anywhere the girl may be hiding, or anything that esd out of place.
But everything was normal.
Heaving, I placed a hand on my chest, rubbing small circles to calm myself.
Shakily I took in a breath.
That's it, I'm going to shut down my laptop and sleep elsewhere tonight.
So I turned back to my laptop, ready to be shut it down and saw the Blind Maiden hanging half way out of the screen.
Her face was as grey as ash and before my eyes, the stitches that held her eyes began bursting open, spilling blood out from the sockets where her eyes should've been.
Her mouth opened, and I saw her smile then she pounced on me, pressing her thumbs down on my eyes.
She was going to blind me!
Thrashing I pulled at her arms and kicked with my legs but it was no use, she was too strong and was sitting heavily on my chest.
I could hear my ribs cracking as her fingers sunk in deeper into my closed eyelids.
Unbearable pain gripped at me, causing me to writhe and squirm in her hold, clawing, scratching and convulsing as her fingers finally tore through the barrier of my eyelids.
Now she was pressing directly on my eyes, squashing the soft eyeballs so they made a sickening, painful pop sound.
Water, tears and blood spilled down my cheeks.
Had I been screaming all along?
Perhaps I was, but now I was screaming even more, mouth widening to scream more cries while she dipped her fingers into my bleeding I sockets and dragged out what was left of my destroyed mush of eyeballs.
Quivering and convulsing in pain, I didn't know when she got off my chest, but I felt myself being lifted in the air, and her words swarm through my head.
Or was it at my ears.
I couldn't tell, I was in too much pain to tell the difference.
"Now you shall be added to my collection."
---------
If you're reading this, don't go looking for it.
Don't try to find that website.
And if you already have...
Then I'm sorry.
