Loving peace seems unlikely, being afraid to die is a possibility.

Qin Qing has great respect for her father and grandfather and is afraid the elders might get angry at Tang Rao.
"Your grandpa and dad aren't my grandpa and dad. If they have a bad attitude towards me, I can choose not to work with them."
Tang Rao didn't necessarily have to use this family for the array; if things didn't work out, he could just find someone else or another place to do it.
