The Banquet Hall was packed to the brim.

The main doors closed, signaling the imminent start of the banquet.

Outside, in a crack by the roadside, all the coffin-bearers were standing in formation holding their poles.

They had completed their task and were now waiting here.

However, these coffin-bearers resembled sedan carriers and could normally bring in people from outside to make up the numbers.

At the entrance to the crack stood the shadow of an eunuch, facing away, motionless; presumably, the overseer.
