"Mom! Are you really going to be this ruthless?"

Mrs. Carter looked at her mother's indifferent face, feeling a sharp tug at her heart, her voice full of agony.

It wasn't until today that she truly understood, that her mother never cared for her, or for her father, only for the long-deceased Julian Dalton and his son, Evan Palmer.

"This is between your father and me, it has nothing to do with you, stop meddling here."

Old Lady Carter didn't even lift her eyelids, her tone cold as if discussing strangers, with no trace of reluctance in her eyes for her daughter.

Old Master Carter watched the scene before him, slowly closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, the anger had faded away, leaving only silence.

A person's heart, after all, will be worn down by repeated hurts.

"Fine, I agree to the divorce." His voice was steady, without ripples, yet carried an undeniable firmness, "You can have half of the family assets, but I have one condition."
