"Mr. Chen... Mr. Chen..."
Yu Xinwei wanted to step back, but to her horror, she found her legs immovable as if filled with lead.
"Are you nervous?"
Chen Cheng withdrew his hand and tossed a tissue onto the table, a slight sound resonating in the quiet private room.
The sound, clear in the silence, tightened Yu Xinwei's nerves once again.
She dared not meet Chen Cheng's eyes and instead spoke softly with her head lowered, "I... I just..."
"Just what?"
Chen Cheng leaned in slightly, closing the distance between them instantly.
Yu Xinwei could even feel his breath on her face.
"Just that, you seem different from what I imagined."
Chen Cheng smiled, "Oh? Then tell me, how should I be?"
"I..."
Yu Xinwei didn't know how to respond, nor did she know what to say to please the man before her.
"Lift your head," Chen Cheng said.
Slowly, she raised her head, meeting Chen Cheng's deep gaze.
In that moment, it felt as if she saw everything in the world, yet also saw nothing.
