Upon hearing the Empress Dowager mention the Empress, Feng Bailing became attentive.
"How was the relationship between the Empress and the Emperor in the past?"
Feng Bailing asked with feigned curiosity.
"They respected each other like guests; there wasn't any disharmony."
The Empress Dowager said with a smile.
"How about when compared to Prince Shun and Lady Dugu?"
Feng Bailing asked further.
The smile on the Empress Dowager's face paused, and she reproached.
"What's gotten into you child? Today you keep asking all sorts of questions. Has Ah Wu been bullying you again?"
The Empress Dowager spoke with heartfelt concern.
"I've heard that you had a conflict with the Crown Princess Consort by the fish pond. She and Ah Wu have had a past, but all that is behind now. You both have children, and you should be living life well. People sometimes just linger too much on the past."
The Empress Dowager sighed, then changed the subject to talk about the children.
