Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 - Spider demons webs

Chapter 29

- Evan -

It's been about 2 weeks since we returned home with Kaysi. I took her straight to the hospital. The doctor said he didn't know when she would wake. She had sustained multiple injuries, including cracked ribs and a collapsed lung. She also suffered from a concussion.

At first, we were not sure that she would survive; most of it was touch-and-go. At one point in time, she spiked a fever of unknown origin. The doctor was not quite sure what caused it, other than the injuries. Once she became stable, she still had not woken.

I sat there and watched her and hoped to be present when she woke. Day after day had passed, but other needs had to be fulfilled.

The battles we faced still did not cease. We continued fighting demons as the portals continued to open due to this large surge of demonic activity. The Guardian Baby officially joined our group with their current two team members. It was now the 5 of us, Baby, Duke, James, Micah, and me, as we faced this new world.

The dimension between the human and spiritual world was becoming increasingly thin. We were called on a lot of missions. Along with the demonic activity, there is an increase in humans needing help as well. We found that some of the Demons are learning to manipulate space and time once they come into our world.

Somehow, the portals, once open fully, were able to warp the domain around them. Stronger demons begin to come out. But the stronger ones that came out meant fewer of the small ones to come with them.

A lot of the demons feared some of the stronger ones and stayed clear. I believe this was because they would feast on each other like a form of cannibalism.

Demons seem to be very territorial once unleashed. At this point, we're having to find new ways to adapt to closing the portals while trying to survive ourselves. Our increasing numbers made this easier.

Evan, we have been called out to a mission. Becky came into the room to let me know.

Baby informed us that one of the pastors needed us to go to an old abandoned school. They want to clear off the evil spirit that dwells in there, as they're going to try to make it a sanctuary for people experiencing homelessness.

So you're pretty much saying that they're going to clear it out and make it somewhat livable for a homeless shelter and a church.

There is already a small chapel inside the school itself, but they cannot access it due to a demon that dwells in there.

All right, I guess we'll head out. Is there anything more about this demon that you know?

The only information we've been given is the number of people who have gone in there and not returned. There seemed to be precisely five male construction workers. They went inside to start some of the renovations and never returned.

Could they just quit and leave the area? Becky asked.

I find that highly unlikely, as a witness said that they saw them go in but not come out. They also left some of their equipment outside, as well as their company vehicles.

Oh no, so would we consider this as a rescue mission, maybe? How long have they been missing?

They have only been missing for the last 48 hours. That being said, if the demon has not had a chance to devour them. Perhaps, we could rescue them, Baby said, in disbelief. I don't think she suspects there to be any survivors.

Traditionally, the demons would just feast on the energy of the living or possess humans, Duke informed us.

But the stronger ones don't seem to get their fix on the small meals of energy. So they resort to devouring humans instead.

Unfortunately, many demons are summoned to this world through some of the portals created through rituals.

So, like the phoenix demon coming after people by opening up the portals and creating chaos, James spoke up.

No, unfortunately, there seems to be something more sinister than that. There are groups of people in a cult called the Order of Judah. The Order of Judah is a group of people called the Watchers. They look to self-proclaim a prophecy that they believe will restore the devil.

They are looking for him to be resurrected or given a host body so that he can return to Earth and fulfill all their desires.

Which means nothing good for people here on Earth. Whether they want to admit it or not, his genuine desire is to rule over their souls and to rule over the Earth and mankind. Duke informed us that he spoke in a rather serious tone. This must not be the first time he's worried about the situation.

"Oh, great, so we might be here to clean up their dirty work," Micah said, shrugging her shoulders.

That is a possibility. I want you to stay alert and aware going in there. Baby said, trying to encourage us.

Inside this building, there seems to be a demonic domain. Much like the dimension where limbo resides as pure beings, we are unable to enter. Which means Duke and I, your guardians, are going to have to stay out here.

If there's any situation that seems questionable or out of your hands, don't hesitate to come back out here.

We sure do appreciate everything you do for us, and we wish you could help us a little more sometimes.

If the demon had not already set up house, we might have been able to.

Good luck, and be aware of your surroundings. Keep your mind focused and stay close to one another. Inside this world, things can be warped and manipulated. At times, it can play tricks on your mind, so don't believe everything you see.

There seemed to be a seal around the door because the moment we walked through it, it was like we were transported to another world.

"This demonic domain is something, isn't it?" Becky exclaimed.

So, is this kind of like the world that you went to to save Kaysi? Micah asked.

Yeah, this is similar. The feeling and the atmosphere are identical. The only difference that I could point out is that the Abyss was very much like a cave with tunnels and catacombs. Also, once you came to a specific area, there was a warehouse with the lab inside.

Oh, that's where you said that they held her and did the experiments.

Yeah, this place is a bit different, but it's the same eerie feeling, and it looks very much like an old pre-war 1930s school.

Even if it didn't have the demonic activity inside of here, this place by itself alone is creepy. This isn't the sort of place where I would want to serve detention. Beck said jokingly, with an unevenness in her voice.

It was oddly quiet if there were any survivors here. I don't believe we're going to find the five missing men. We can start by checking each of the rooms, but stay on your guard for the demon; it's somewhere close by.

Hey Becky... Micah stated, Remember, a year ago at the guardian's training grounds, you freaked out because there was a spider that touched your hand. And we thought you broke that statue, but it was me who switched to the door where we needed to go.

Yeah...YEAH! I know there are spiderwebs all over this place. PLEASE! Stop mentioning it; I'm doing my best not to think about it or even look up.

Hey, girls, no shouting; you might draw attention to the demon that's somewhere here.

Oh, I was just trying to inform her because she has a deathly fear of spiders. There is a vast web, large enough to hold a bus ahead of us.

Becky's eyes widened, her mouth open to let out a silent scream as she tried not to alert the demon in the area.

A thick fog began forming at our feet extremely fast.

"There's this fog coming from Micah," asked.

I don't know, but I would suggest I stay close; this could be a trap led by the enemy, as Duke once told us that some things are not as they seem.

The fog grew thicker and thicker as we all had our weapons drawn. The four of us were standing there back to back with each other.

Be prepared and sharpen your senses; we're going to have to fight this one blind.

The willow began to burn my eyes. It also made it challenging to breathe, not so much because of the lack of air, but because of the amount of burning it did to my lungs and throat.

I closed my eyes and squinted. When I opened them again, I was standing in a room that looked like a kitchen.

Hey, Babe, I see that you're awake. Standing before me was Kaysi!?

She was awake and alive. She wore a black lacy tank top and a white silky robe.

What do you mean, I woke up? You were the one who was knocked out. You're in a coma, and now you're here. Where are we?

Hold on, back up the train. Did you just call me, babe?

Silly, I told you not to go to sleep after playing those silly video games. Those horror games always give you the craziest imagination. You're looking a little red. Do you have a fever?

She walked over to me and grabbed my chin with her right hand and felt my forehead with her left.

She had her body pressed up against mine. She was quite short compared to me. I could see right down her chest. She also wore a wedding band. Who was she married to?
