Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7- WELCOME TO I.LAND FC

"He shoots and he scores."

Neto woke up to realize that he was dreaming once again. It had been about 2 weeks since Neto joined I.land scouts. It was a part of a late miracle almost complete.

It was the beginning of a new school week; Neto went to school all happy and set. School was much of a drag for Neto: listening to teachers teaching boring subjects. All that was on his mind was the weekends, when the I.land scouts would begin their training.

School was over and Neto began going back home. He decided to take his original route, where he stopped by to see the original yard where he would practice. There were shots everywhere. He tried to see who was shooting, and he saw Steve.

Steve made eye contact with Neto, looked at a ball and shot it in Neto's direction.

Luckily, Neto dodged the fired shot, which dented a sign post behind him. "Dude, are you trying to kill me?" Neto asked. Steve just turned to his rear side and continued blasting shots.

Neto wondered why he was the only one there- usually there'd be people playing there till 7pm.

"How did that nubby get on the team and I didn't?" Steve said, blasting a trash can with his shot.

The school week was over, and the weekend finally came. Neto left home early to I.land's stadium. There, he met Michael, Jolar and Dogo.

There was a brief moment of silence and awkwardness from all ends. Michael pat him, asking,"Are you just going to pretend like we haven't met before? How're you doing?" He brought his hand out for a hand shake. "Good", replied Neto, shaking Michael's hand.

"Well, the chosen candidates", Samba said, "Shall we?" Samba directed them to the pitch.

"Finally!"Neto thought. Samba took them to the pitch, where they were welcomed by the I.land players-their XI, substitutes; everyone.

The new scouts were welcomed well; they readied their gear and were briefed on some certain aspects- they were told about their manager-Don Felix. They were taken sightseeing of the entire of I.land's stadium-their locker room, their cabinet (which was nearly empty).

On viewing the trophy cabinet, Neto saw the Elite Frontiership cup in 1927, and thought ,"So long since they won a major trophy- 198 years".

Michael brought him back to earth as he was lost in thought, and they continued the tour.

Dogo asked about their coach and Samba replied that they haven't had a coach since 2000."How come?" Michael asked. "Dunno. Guess we're too bad." Samba chuckled.

After the briefing was over, the trio began training. They started with less straining- exercises like jogging before moving into more straining ones like pushups, sit ups and a few others. The rookies spent most of the day exercising.

The day was over and Neto returned back home, all soaked and fatigued. Ben, a normal bro who would come to visit Neto, was wondering, "Training much. Bet you couldn't stop Samba."

"Not really, we haven't started training matches. We spent most of the day exercising, which Samba says is important for our overall fitness in a match." Neto said while taking off his shoes and shirt on the sofa.

Ben was looking for something good on TV, and came across a sports channel, where the winning team won with a 6-0 match score.

"And the man of the match is…"

"Man, this guy is good", Ben commented, sipping his soda. Neto, who was relaxing on the sofa, recognized the player as the one who was mocking Samba. He sat up on the sofa, thinking, "40 goals in 37 games. That guy really is good. Could what he said to Samba be true?"
