Chapter 70 - Ch 70: Silence

The Tortoise panicked and tried to move, but because of the ice still present on it's body, it couldn't move... At least not for a few seconds.

The next instant, like a crashing star, a blinding light fell onto the Beast's head.

Booooooommmmmm

The moment the star connected to the Tortoise, a terrifying power exploded outwards. The beast's head was smashed into the ground, while it's legs buckled under the pressure of that strike, shaking the ground like an earthquake.

Su Yan coughed and waved her hand to clear away the slight dust near her, to see what had occured.

But...

She went wide eyed and silent when she saw the scene in front of her.

The Ice on the Beast was broken. The shell on it's head was cracked and showed signs of collapsing — it's head bleeding severely. It's eyes revealing relief and fear as it looked intently at the young man in front of it.

"Wh..what happened..", a desciple muttered with confused eyes. But, he froze when he looked at the Tortoise.

"Tha..that... He...", the desciple stuttered and pinched himself to see if he was dreaming or not.

He wasn't alone, as nearly every desciple who looked there was stunned. But, the most stunned were not them, but the desciples of the other two sects, who looked at the young man as if seeing a ghost.

Xie Hong Chen's eyes widened to the extreme, "Whh... What!? No... How can it be him...", he muttered with a lost look in his eyes as he dropped to his knees, his body trembling slightly.

Su Yan looked at the figure breathing heavily in front of the beast. "Yang Kai...", she muttered the figure's name with a confused look.

Yes, the one who had fallen like a star was none other than Yang Kai. Yang Kai looked at the Beast in front of him with an ugly look. 'I used all my strength in that strike, but this guy still survived...'

Yang Kai had used nearly every bit of his Qi in that attack, using the Mysterious Grade Technique he had obtained from the Star Diagram: Star Quake Strike.

But the beast, although injured, could still move and attack.

Su Yan saw this and swiftly rushed forward, to pull Yang Kai away. The Tortoise narrowed it's bloodied eyes and with a shaky stomp — that shook the ground — it stood up and stepped towards Yang Kai — intending to squash him underneath.

Su Yan's gaze flickered and she erupted with all her strength to freeze the Tortoise's movement again. But this time, she couldn't truly stop it as it's feet was already upon Yang Kai.

"Yang Kai!!" x2

Two — strangely identical— shouts echoed, filled with dread and nervousness as two figures shot down from the high ground, where the sect desciples of the other sects were standing.

But, how could these two figures appear next to Yang Kai when even Su Yan — who was neared — couldn't.

Just when when it looked like Yang Kai will be trampled under the beast's feet...

"—AAAAAAHHHHH, DIE, YOU DAMN TURTLE!"

A roar sounded in the area. Simultaneously, a golden blazing flash blurred like a shadowy ghost and appeared in front of the Tortoise's head.

The temperature in the dozen meters grew alarmingly, reaching a terrifying level in just a fraction of a second of the figure's appearance.

All eyes that were on Yang Kai, turned to the Figure covered in Golden Flames of smoldering heat. But all they saw, was how the flash collided with the turtles head. A shout echoing with the collision.

"DRAGON TURNING STRIKE!"

RRROOOOOOAARRR

BOOOOOOOOOMMM

SPLASH

CRASH

all of it happened in just a second...

As the figure crashed into the Tortoise. A tremor went through the beasts head, it's shell and skin exploding, causing blood and bone splinters to splash around, while pushing the Tortoise back by a few meters.

The tremor travelled through it's limbs and then throughout it's body, causing it's many wounds to burst open and blood to flood out. It released a tragic roar as golden burns — similar to the color of the golden figure — simultaneously ignited all over it's body, before it's body started erupting in a series of explosions, raining blood, meat and shattered internal organs — all still burning in golden flame — all over the ground.

Finally, the body on the tortoise crashed onto the ground with a ground shaking thud.

....

Silence. Utter pin drop silence enveloped the area as everyone looked shocked, awed and frightened at the mutilated body of the Tortoise Beast. It's body having erupted in various places as blood and various matters bursting out. It's shell cracked and broken. It's head... had burst open from above, pieces of it's skull and brain scattered around. It's eyes had exploded, unable to bear the intense strike, it's jaws were broken, clearly hanging by a joint.

Everyone took in a shuddering, bone chilled breath before their focus turned to the figure responsible for this. A young man's figure stood atop the beasts head. With black hair flowing wildly. Upper body bare, revealing an exotic body — arms covered in bruises and small wounds as blood leaked from his arms and chest — His strong and wild aura presenting an image of an untamable beast.

While everyone was stunned and frozen. Wang Feng — standing on the Tortoise's head looked down at the ground, at Yang Kai, who just shook his head and said, "show off, you could have finished it without that shout."

Wang Feng inwardly sighed in relief, getting that Yang Kai was completely fine. He answered, "what's the fun in that? It's not my fault you didn't shout your technique to look heroic~", Wang Feng teased before he chuckled when two blurs collided with the tired Yang Kai, who was pushed onto the ground by two identical beauties.

Wang Feng's eyes shifted to a place, his expressions tuning neutral.

While Wang Feng and Yang Kai were talking, everyone had snapped out of that spine chilling trance - the desciples of the two sects now looking toward Wang Feng and Yang Kai as if seeing a ghost, a monster. While High Heaven Pavilion's desciples started cheering in awe and relief.

Wang Feng jumped — ignoring the cheers around him — and landed behind the Tortoise's blooded corpse. he looked down at a figure that was half pressed under the collapsed Beast body, with only an arm, a leg and a bit of the chest was visible — golden flames clinging to the figure because of direct contact with the Beast's blazing body.

Wang Feng bent down and picked up a fist sized earthly bead that lay next to the half crushed body. he muttered, "this is as far as you go, Xie Hong Chen.."

The body indeed belonged to Xie Hong Chen. Previously, when Xie Hong Chen had seen Yang Kai — after whom he had sent three of his goons — punch the Tortoise and saw the devastating power behind it, he was scared shitless.

So, he thought of distancing himself for the Yang Kai and the other desciples. But, who would have thought that it would result in his death.

Wang Feng, who had an eye on the battle, noticed this, and his eyes flashed. So, when he attacked, he didn't hold back at all.

He used 70% of his Qi Essence using the Dragon Turning Strike, used Blazing Bull Charge Technique to enhance his body strength, pushed 10% of his Qi Essence into his movement technique; Shadow Phantom Steps, while the rest of his Qi Essence was used on his Earthly Flame; Golden Yang Flames, which enhanced the attacks lethality by multiple times,

All of which resulted as it did. Otherwise, the outcome might not have been this effective.

Wang Feng paused and looked over his shoulder, behind himself — while willing the bead in his hand to be stored into the inventory, making it disappear from his hand — seeing Su Yan landing from the sky.

Wang Feng turned his eyes back to the body in front of him, looking as it burned into ashes, but by bit.

Su Yan who was standing behind him saw this and narrowed her eyes at the figure and the flames. Although, she couldn't identify the figure because of how burnt it was now, she knew who it was.

But... She didn't feel anything as she gazed at the burning body. Having interacted with Xie Hong Chen for years, she already had his character down — not to mention that she doesn't feel anything even for those she had a positive impression of, because of her cultivation technique.

Instead, her focus had been on the flames. No matter how she looked, those flames were too abnormal from her perspective. Ignoring her curiousity, her eyes involuntarily landed on Wang Feng's arms, which were covered in small wounds and had bruises.

"....", she didn't know what to say. She wanted to tell him to heal up first,.that she would stand guard. But... Her words wouldn't leave her mouth — her usual cold facade effecting her.

Wang Feng stood for a couple of seconds before he turned around and walked towards Su Yan. But, as he walked, he groaned and stumbled for a second, making Su Yan instinctively reach out and support him, her hands grabbing his shoulder and resting on his chest respectively.

Wang Feng was surprised for a moment, but as he felt his body, he smiled wearily. Su Yan saw this and asked, "are you ok?", her voice low as she supported him straight.

Wang Feng nodded, "I will be. It's just that my body was pushed beyond it's endurance and my Qi has been exhausted...", he muttered as Su Yan lead him slightly away.

"Hmm...", Wang Feng stopped suddenly as the cheers turned quiet and murmurs of confusion sounded around.

He and Su Yan turned to see what happened, they saw how 8 flashes of light shot into the sky before revolving around in a circle — An intense, terrifying storm of energy started brewing around the revolving lights.

Wang Feng's light shined in understanding as he remembered. He had forgotten about this before, his focus on the treasure bead.

Wang Feng looked at the revolving lights — which were actually the Beast Cores of the various Tier 5 Monster Beasts killed by the desciples of three sects — with narrowed eyes. He glanced around at the many High Heaven Pavilion desciples, shouted out to them—

"De—"

"Everyone! Retreat 10 miles back!"

Just as Wang Feng began, his words were interrupt by another voice, making Wang Feng involuntarily look towards the owner of the familiar voice.

Wang Feng looked at Yang Kai, inwardly frowning, 'did he encounter that guy...', he thought, comparing his previous exchange with Yang Kai, searching for any type of difference with the usual Yang Kai, but—

'Yang Kai either gained a treasure that could hold back Old Demon and make Old Demon submit to him.... Or Yang Kai didn't encounter him.', these were the two conclusion he came upon, since Yang Kai appeared to be the same, with no signs of being possessed.

He sighed and looked at HHP's (High Heaven Pavilion) desciple. He saw how many nodded while a few had expressions like 'why are you ordering us around?'. It was obvious that although Yang Kai's strength was recognized, his influence on the desciples was still not much.

So, Wang Feng himself shouted, "If you all want to live, then listen to Yang Kai's words! Retreat atleast 10 miles from here!"

Then, without waiting for anything, Wang Feng looked at Su Yan who without a word, retreated with him.

The desciples, seeing him and Su Yan leave followed by Yang Kai, all exchanged looks before they also followed behind.

The other sect desciples saw this and remained silent, their gazes on the five figures walking at the front; Wang Feng, walking with Su Yan's support, Yang Kai, walking alongside a clingy Hu Mie'er and sneaky Hu Jiao'er.

Every male was jealous and every female was in envy.
