Chapter 493 - Chapter 493: The Mysterious Guest Joins

[Spider-Man swung gracefully on his web-lines, releasing his grip when the silk's tension reached its limit, then skillfully grabbed onto a passing drone to use it as an aerial anchor and launched himself higher into the air.]

[However, within moments, the drone he was gripping exploded in his hands from enemy fire, and Spider-Man immediately lost his aerial support and began plummeting toward the bridge below.]

[But his reflexes kicked in instantly as he fired another web-line to attach to a different drone, then used the momentum to slide in a perfect semicircle through mid-air, carrying him directly across the corridor where Quentin Beck was positioned.]

[He fired a web between the two parallel corridors to create a connecting bridge, then shot another web-line from the opposite side toward the center point.]

[He landed with both feet precisely on the tensioned web-line and used the elastic rebound force to propel himself upward, simultaneously firing web-lines to ensnare drones positioned on his left and right flanks, then allowed the web tension to catapult him back toward the ground.]

[The drones that had become entangled in his web-lines were forcibly compressed together and immediately exploded in a spectacular chain reaction, destroying dozens of surrounding drones in the process.]

[Spider-Man executed a perfect front flip landing, but his moment of cool satisfaction lasted exactly three seconds before a powerful sonic wave attack struck him and sent him flying backward onto a parked car.]

[Before he could recover and react, several sonic attack drones launched a coordinated assault, and the devastating sound waves were so powerful they completely overturned the vehicle in front of him and hurled it directly toward his position.]

[Spider-Man didn't have sufficient time to dodge the incoming projectile and was struck head-on by the massive car, which sent him tumbling into the Thames River below.]

[Quentin Beck, who had been constantly monitoring Spider-Man's every movement through his surveillance network, witnessed this apparent victory and released a long sigh of relief, "Finally! Some peace and quiet! William! What's the status on our systems?"]

["The holographic illusion is almost completely restored! Now I'm curious to see how you're planning to turn this entire situation to our advantage!" William announced as he successfully restarted the complex projection technology.]

"Wait, isn't that the same sonic weapon technology that was previously used against the Hulk?" Banner hadn't been paying close attention initially, but now he suddenly recognized the distinctive weapon system that General Ross had employed in previous encounters.

"That's right! It looks like Beck improved the design significantly – it's much more powerful now, with concentrated wave-pattern attacks! Actually, that's quite an innovative tactical approach!" Tony commented as he removed his advanced armor and stored it in its compact housing unit.

Scott Lang and James Rhodes stood nearby, observing the genuine Mysterio and the imprisoned Quentin Beck in the adjacent interrogation room through the one-way mirror.

"He's not actually going to beat that lying fraud to death, is he?" Rhodes touched his chin thoughtfully while watching the scene unfold.

"I don't think so?" Scott couldn't say with complete certainty, because the real Mysterio in the room was fighting with absolutely ruthless intensity and obvious personal vendetta.

At that moment, the genuine Mysterio was systematically beating Quentin Beck with methodical precision, delivering powerful punches that struck the charlatan's entire body, but focusing particularly on his face, leaving the fraudulent Beck with severely blackened eyes and a grotesquely swollen visage.

Given Mysterio's genuine superhuman strength, even without actively using his elemental powers, the physical punishment was far more than ordinary human Quentin Beck could possibly withstand or endure.

"Please, I'm begging you, don't do this to me! I was wrong about everything..." Quentin Beck's voice trembled with genuine terror as he continued pleading desperately through his tears, but his pathetic whimpering sounded like the insignificant buzzing of a mosquito to the enraged Mysterio, and it did absolutely nothing to halt his systematic delivery of justice.

There was a cold, murderous intent flashing dangerously in the genuine Mysterio's eyes. He extended his large, vise-like hands and accurately grasped Quentin Beck around the throat, lifting the charlatan's entire body effortlessly off the ground.

Quentin Beck's feet dangled helplessly in the air as he desperately attempted to pry Mysterio's iron grip apart with his own hands. His eyes bulged grotesquely due to oxygen deprivation, and his face turned an alarming shade of red from the constricted blood flow.

The genuine Mysterio glared at him with pure contempt, then suddenly exerted tremendous force and hurled Quentin Beck's body against the reinforced concrete wall.

With a thunderous "BANG," the fraudulent Beck's body struck the wall with bone-crushing impact.

Quentin Beck collapsed to the floor in a crumpled heap, groaning in absolute agony, with a thin trickle of blood oozing from the corner of his mouth.

Observing that the genuine Mysterio had nearly finished venting his righteous anger on the lying charlatan, Captain America intervened, "I think that's sufficient punishment. If you continue this beating, you're going to kill him."

The real Mysterio took a deep, calming breath, looked down at the broken form of Quentin Beck with cold satisfaction, and said with icy finality: "This was merely a small lesson in consequences. You should have expected to pay the price for all the destruction and suffering you've caused."

He then walked directly out of the interrogation room, glanced back once at Quentin Beck who remained unable to rise from the floor, and shook his head with disgust. The man had brought this punishment entirely upon himself.

"Alright! You've finished expressing your justified anger. Now it's time to discuss what you're planning to do next?" Back in the main conference room, Director Nick Fury took the initiative and fixed his penetrating single eye directly on the genuine Mysterio.

Mysterio sighed with obvious weariness and uncertainty, "Honestly, I don't know what comes next! The Earth I come from is completely destroyed and uninhabitable, and I have absolutely no idea where I should go or what I should do now."

"These elemental creatures you fought... Is there any possibility that they might appear in our dimension?"

The genuine Mysterio glanced thoughtfully at Tony when he heard this crucial question, "I honestly have no way of knowing for certain!"

Tony felt somewhat frustrated by this response. How could this interdimensional visitor not know anything useful about potential threats?

Natasha crossed her arms and offered her tactical assessment, "Based on the sky curtain's revealed timeline, the elemental creatures shouldn't manifest in our reality, at least not until after our war with Thanos is concluded and Tony is... gone. But obviously, no one can predict with certainty what might happen in an altered future!"

Captain America spoke with characteristic calm determination: "We can worry about hypothetical future threats later. Right now, we need to focus on surviving our encounter with Thanos first!"

"Thanos?" The genuine Mysterio looked up with sudden interest and concern.

"He's the massive purple alien who briefly appeared at the end of the Battle of New York. His name is Thanos, and he represents our most dangerous and immediate existential threat!"

The genuine Mysterio's expression showed sudden recognition as he recalled previous discussions, "I remember now! I heard my former teammates analyzing that particular battle and discussing that mysterious figure. Let me help you fight him! I'm completely homeless and purposeless now anyway! My primary reason for coming here was to deliver justice to that pathetic liar."

Director Nick Fury heard exactly the answer he had been hoping for. The entire reason for bringing Mysterio to the S.W.O.R.D. facility had been to evaluate and potentially recruit him for their team. After all, unlike the charlatan, this individual genuinely possessed supernatural abilities and could be a valuable asset.

Moreover, from the moment the genuine Mysterio had entered the S.W.O.R.D. facility, every word he spoke, every facial expression he made, and every movement he performed had been under constant surveillance by their trained agents, with psychological professionals continuously evaluating whether he was being deceptive or harbored hidden ulterior motives.

The real Mysterio had naturally passed every test and evaluation with flying colors, though he remained somewhat confused about why this organization was called S.W.O.R.D. instead of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Director Nick Fury found it necessary to explain the recent internal civil war that had torn S.H.I.E.L.D. apart, including the arrest and prosecution of Alexander Pierce, Brock Rumlow, and numerous other high-ranking Hydra infiltrators.

Most of the known Hydra bases and installations around the world had been systematically destroyed by Captain America and War Machine during their comprehensive global campaign, and they had eliminated every facility they could locate.

However, this didn't mean that S.H.I.E.L.D. was completely finished as an organization, because Agent Phil Coulson was currently leading a dedicated team working tirelessly to rebuild the agency from the ground up. This explained his notable absence from current operations – he was extraordinarily busy and could genuinely be called a model of tireless dedication.

[Meanwhile, Spider-Man laboriously climbed out of the Thames River, breathing heavily from exhaustion and cold, then looked upward to assess his tactical situation. Dozens of armed drones had formed a protective perimeter around the corridor where Quentin Beck was positioned, creating an impenetrable defensive barrier.]

[He returned to the destroyed Tower Bridge, observing that the historic landmark had been reduced to smoking ruins. He pressed the activation button on his web-shooter and groaned with frustration, "Oh! Perfect! I'm completely out of web-fluid!"]

[Spider-Man scanned the battlefield ahead and spotted a damaged drone lying motionless on the ground, unable to move but still capable of emitting sonic wave attacks.]

[He picked up a discarded child's doll from the debris scattered across the bridge, then carefully timed his throw to coincide with the drone's sonic pulse. The concentrated sound wave launched the doll high into the air like a projectile.]

[When Spider-Man witnessed this demonstration of the sonic weapon's power, he immediately formulated a desperate but potentially brilliant tactical plan.]
