Chapter 63 - It just gets worse

Third-person POV

Astraea stood in the middle of the marble-floored room with her arms crossed tightly over her chest as she watched King Therion pace slowly in front of her, his expression unreadable. The air around them was filled with a lot of tension, though it always felt that way when he was waiting for something from her. Especially when it was something she didn't want to say.

Therion stopped in his tracks, his robe swirling slightly around his boots. "Well?" he asked, folding his arms now too. "How did your meeting with Veylan go? I expected a report the moment you were done. Instead, you went completely silent, and now you summon me without so much as a word."

Astraea shifted her weight, and her jaw clenched. "I needed time to think and to process what I learned, which was why I couldn't summon you just yet."

Therion raised a brow. "So now that you've processed, go on. Speak."
