Astraea's POV
I let out a long sigh and walked back to my bed, lowering myself onto the edge of it. My hands rested on my knees as I turned my eyes back to Inara.
She was still standing there, staring at me with that same look she always had, like she knew some joke I didn't, like she was enjoying watching me unravel.
It was honestly the kind of look that made me want to wipe the smirk off her face in the worst way possible, but I forced myself to keep calm again and again, hoping we could wrap this up as soon as possible and she'd be on her way back home.
After a few heavy seconds of silence, I finally asked, "What exactly do you expect me to do or say, Inara? Do you think I'm going to panic at the thought of Valkyrie becoming queen and finding some way to keep me from ever stepping foot in the underworld again?"
My voice was flat, almost bored, but inside I was burning.
