Zephyra's POV
I sat there in silence for what felt like forever, though it had only been five minutes. My body was stiff, and I kept my eyes down, refusing to look in the direction of the mirror. The thing still looked strange, its surface moving faintly like water, and the very thought of it made my stomach twist.
But what made me even more uncomfortable was the fact that she was still here. Inara. The one person I never wanted to owe anything to, let alone my life. After I had screamed at her the moment she dragged me away from the mirror, I hadn't said another word. I just sat at the edge of Astraea's bed, breathing hard, trying to calm down, and trying not to think about how close I'd come to vanishing.
The silence was starting to suffocate me in the worst way possible until finally, I let out a sigh, forcing myself to speak.
"What was that?" I asked, nodding my chin toward the mirror.
