Despite knowing which area they lived in, and the fact that they were huge, incredibly smelly apes, running into a skunk sasquatch was incredibly difficult even with such circumstances, all sasquatches seemed to share the same traits, which was that they preferred to remain hidden from people, they may have different sorts of reactions if they were seen or caught, but in the first place, they would behave similarly.
And somehow, the larger and less agile variation was somehow even more stealthy that the mountain sasquatches, presumably due to having a well developed sense of smell that could separate their own rancid odour from the rest, but Anoteros was able to quickly lead Yin to a lone skunk sasquatch sitting in a small clearing, munching on some wild fruits like a gorilla.
The reason was simple, with the bloodline acquired from a rare lord-type sasquatch, Anoteros had simply gone into the forest ahead of time and given orders, these big oafs would sometimes be unwilling to cooperate, but it was nothing a good beating could not solve.
"Here is one, you can smell it from all the way over here… I'll check whether or not there is anything around and give you a signal if so, then you can engage it in combat" Yin nodded to that, and after Edrick checked the surroundings, making sure that no other beast or monster would get involved partway through, he gave Yin a thumbs up, and subtly, he sent a whiff of scent toward the big sasquatch.
He hadn't picked any random sasquatch for this, he had tried to find the strongest male that was still around for the job, the point was to convince Yin that the grey sasquatches were good opponents for her to train her skills and test her advancements in cultivation, so that she would want to come back again, and since she wouldn't be able to find any without Anoteros, this would arrange a regular moment for the two of them to spend some time together.
Basically, he was engineering occasions for them to interact together and socialise, as although she might seem a bit rough around the edges sometimes, Yin was quite the extrovert and spent a lot of time speaking with her friends, he just needed to convince her psyche that he was also a good person to spend time with, and from there, he felt rather confident that he could slither into her heart.
Seduction was much like serial killing, a thrilling game of hunter and prey, the rules were vastly different, but the two brought about the same amount of fulfilment, they simply exerted different skills…
Yin, dressed in the robes of the sect's inner disciples, casually stepped out from the foliage and let the beast take notice of her, and then, she unsheathed her weapon, which was a sabre of the Dao variety, in Edrick's old world, this particular variety was not exactly common.
He only knew of it because he had spent his life learning about weapons of all kinds, their history, how to wield them, and many more details… This had been a rather big hobby of his, alongside methods of torture, execution, and weird animals.
This particular Dao was a Piandao, more curved than its basic form, and from what Anoteros remembered, it had generally been put to use alongside a shield, but Yin had none, however, considering what she had said earlier about her techniques, then perhaps the choice of a blade normally used with a shield was not a coincidence at all.
She only slightly frowned when the skunk sasquatch released its foul odour in an attempt to threaten her, instead raising her chin and staring directly at the beast, which was generally a good way to further provoke a wild creature, especially those who were not frightened by humans.
The beast growled, and charging forth, swung its fist right at the tomboy, who made no effort to dodge, getting struck directly in the face at full force, which, strangely enough, only caused her to take a few steps back.
Yin probed at her nose thoughtfully before smiling.
"Oh, that's good, it hits hard" barring her sword, the sasquatch could not sense it, but Edrick somewhat could, as he was more familiar with cultivation techniques, although few that he practised had those sorts of active abilities, he recognised it for what it was.
The grey sasquatch was no longer very confident, it may not be very smart overall, but even idiots would know that when you hit something, and it doesn't give a damn, that things were not good, especially for something as powerful as a skunk sasquatch, it knew that it was strong, no other species within the forest could match its raw strength.
So, for a puny-looking thing to take a direct hit and then step forward again without any blood flowing anywhere, its instincts screamed for the sasquatch to turn and make a break for it, but the presence of a sasquatch lord nearby stopped it, pushing the creature to attack again.
This time, the ape attacked with both of its fists, intending on popping Yin's head like a watermelon, but somehow, the attack was even less effective than the one from before, and the simian creature had both fists bounce off, pain radiating through its hands, feeling as though it had tried to punch a boulder.
In that instant, Yin slashed forward, and even Edrick blinked a couple times, as the mighty creature was bisected at the waist, falling into two pieces, unmoving as the spine was cleanly severed.
"Seems like you have plenty of attack power as well" he commented, looking over the still-warm carcass with a small smile.
Yin rubbed her nape.
"I was sort of expecting this guy to have been more resilient than this, guess I got a bit too excited there… But that's fantastic! Skunk sasquatch, you said? They have a whole lot of strength, nothing in this forest had been able to make me take a step back or worry about getting my nose broken for years- I wish I had known sooner about these guys, they are just what I need to further advance my body cultivation technique"
"Ah, it must be a pretty good technique to allow you to take a punch to the face without even wincing like that"
Yin glanced around.
"Yeah, it isn't that important, so I'll tell you, but it's the Impenetrable Shell Constitution, it combines the toughness of various creatures with a shell into one, pretty complicated technique, and due to being a mix of different traits from distinct species, there is basically zero chance of turning it into a physique, but the results are plenty satisfactory, especially since it also reinforces my organs"
"Ah, I remember seeing it, I was a bit too focused on the prospect of getting a physique, though, so I ignored it at the time…"
"It isn't that big of a loss, it takes a ton of time to get anywhere with it, most of the creatures taken inspiration from are turtles, so you need to sit around for hours upon hours a day to properly cultivate it… I was twelve when I started, I am twenty now, it takes a lot of patience"
They both looked at the corpse for a few moments, the innards slowly slipping out.
"Want to fight another? This was pretty short, we should be able to fight another today…"
"I would love to- Would be even better if two could try to murder me at the same time"
"Unfortunately, they move alone"
"Damned sasquatches…"
