Chapter 99 - I Think I Can

Even though the Reverse Flash is fast, Barry is much faster. He saw Reverse Flash going at Cisco immediately. His vibrating hand appeared still before Barry's eyes as he entered Flash Time.

Barry knew he had to save Cisco in such a way that the Reverse Flash continues to be in an oblivious state about his true speed, so he looks around, sees a bunch of pens next to the computer monitors, runs up to it, maintaining his speed, grabs it and throws it at Reverse Flash.

The pen moves faster than Reverse Flash's vibrating hand, easily reaching over Mach 15. Any human can throw a pen at least two times as fast as they can run. Compared to Flash, who is a literal superhuman and is showing that he can run about the speed of Mach 5, a pen being thrown at Mach 15 won't be something that would give away his speed.

The Reverse Flash sees the pen coming at him, but it's too late. It pierces into his biceps, immediately stopping him from turning Cisco's head into a mangled mess.

"ARRRRGGGG!" He yells in pain and backs away from Cisco before running away. Barry could chase after him but decides not to.

He approaches Cisco and exits Flash Time.

"Cisco, you okay?" Barry asks, placing his hand on his shoulder. Cisco looks around, confused. Completely unaware of what happened just now.

"He ran away," Barry says.

"How? he was just about to kill me?" Cisco questions.

"Well, I threw a pen at him..." Barry says. "Yes! That makes sense; anything you throw would travel much faster. That would definitely make sense. Of course, he wouldn't be fast en-" "Okay, stop, he needs to calm down. You are safe now. He's gone," Barry stops Cisco from his rambling, which seems to be his way of coping with the near-death experience he just had.

Cisco shuts up. "Good, now take a deep breath and relax," Barry says, trying to calm him down some more. Cisco listens to him and takes his deep breath.

*Huuuuuu* *Pheeewwww* Cisco does it a few more times to completely calm down and immediately hugs Barry.

"Thank God you were here. I would be so dead," he says.

"Haha... As much as I would like to take credit for saving you. He definitely came here to use one of you against me to get away," Barry says while awkwardly laughing.

Cisco immediately pulls away from the hug, giving Barry and weird look. "What happened?" He asks.

Barry sighs and tells Cisco what happened. How he saw the man is yellow standing on top of the other side of his lab, how he chased after him, their fight inside the stadium, which then led to the Man in Yellow coming here, and trying to take Cisco hostage to get away.

"Shit! We need to inform the others," Cisco says. Barry nods.

"I will get right to it,"

An hour later, the entire gang is back in the lab, and Dr. Wells seems to have recovered from the beating he took from Barry.

If Batman were hear, he would clearly see the anger and contempt hidden behind Dr. Wells' eyes as he stares at Barry.

"What happened?" Joe asks, looking at Barry.

Barry looks around. Caitlin is standing next to him, genuinely worried about him. She came running when Cisco told her that Barry had fought with the man in yellow.

"I was just finishing up work when I saw him. He was waiting for me outside. So I gave chase. We ran, we fought. I had him, but then he came here, took Cisco hostage. He was about to kill Cisco, but I somehow managed to stop him, but he escaped," Barry says. His voice sounded grim.

Silence follows in the cortex as the team hears what happened. Dr Well clenches his fist, trying to control his anger. Luckily for him, no one sees it.

"Did you see who it was? His face? How did he sound? Anything?" Joe asks.

"Nothing. He was vibrating his face and vocal cords the whole time," Barry says.

"There was also something off about him..." Barry says.

"What?" Joe asks.

"And the end of our fight. I noticed he was slowing down. It was as if he was running out of battery or something. That's why he got desperate, tried to use Cisco to get away," Barry says. His words were intentional to provoke Dr. Wells.

"So you are saying you have a chance of catching him the next time he shows up?" Joe asks, a little excitement in his voice.

"I think I can," Barry says.

Of course, Dr. Wells does not like what he is hearing, but he also knows there is truth to Barry's words.

He experienced it on his own. Barry was just as fast as him, and with the rate of his growth, it won't be long before Barry surpasses him.

He knows he needs to do something. He is desperate.
