Jack's POV
Marie's free hand snapped up.
The sound of her palm connecting with Jarvis's cheek echoed across the suddenly silent yard.
Jarvis's head jerked sideways. I have never seen anything like that before.
Mom didn't spare him another glance. She pried her arm free and turned, walked away.
She walked straight towards me.
Her eyes, usually so warm and calm, were wide, swimming with tears that spilled over, tracing angry paths down her cheeks.
Heartbreak and betrayal radiated off her like heat. It broke my heart...it really broke my heart.
She stopped inches away from me. Close enough for me to see the tremor in her lips. Close enough for me to see the absolute devastation etched on her face.
"Mom? I can explain" I tried to reason my way out of the hole Jarvis had dugged, a hole he had pushed me in and was beginning to bury me in . "I can explain"
