(Kai's POV)
Weeks went by like nothing. Things stayed almost the same.
Jack was rarely home. Marie barely left her room. The twins somehow stopped being so loud in the house.
Zee spent most of his time in his treehouse blowing stuff up. Silo and Fin trained more with the warriors up till the point of exhaustion.
Only Cole came around often except when he was there...Jack disappeared. In weeks, I have only ever seen the man I loved few times briefly before he rushed out to quench some fire and even when he was home he spent it in his office with the door shut.
And me? I poured my time and love into taking care of the twins Jax and Jett. Poured myself into taking care of everyone else while Marie hid away in her bedroom.
And then one day, out of nowhere she called for me.
My heart hammered against my ribs as I knocked on Marie's door.
Relief washed over me when she opened it. I smiled. It was really good to see her after so many days.
