[1st POV] [Grayfia Lucifuge]
My master was asleep. Gone, unconscious. Doing some ritual that she claimed would make her a super class entity. A god amongst devils. She was doing something that had never been done before, ascending into something...more.
I had served as the maid of Sirzech's Lucifer for hundreds of years. I had watched his power, seen it in person. Watched as he fought against Gods and destroyed any who threatened the peace of the Underworld.
And yet, my master claims to be becoming something more, something superior, something...ascended.
And I was...terrified. Terrified of what she was doing, of the consequences of this. Of the fact that she MIGHT DIE. And yet at the same time...I was so very excited to see what would come of it, what my beloved would become.
For she was confident in herself, in her ritual, and how could I, her Queen and maid, dare to question her?
My fellow servants were worried for her, even the new girl, Scathach. She had joined not that long ago, and was already caring for master. I suppose it was that impossible charm of hers, that made my heart beat faster than any battle, and made my cheeks flush like I was a teenager.
I was in love.
That much I knew for certain.
I was jealous of Rias-sama, of the fact that she was to marry Morgan-sama, that she would marry her before I could. And yet, I knew from the words of Master, that she would marry all her beloveds, all her servants that would gladly worship her.
And that eliminated that jealousy, for the most part.
At the moment, I am walking through the halls of the place in which the Four Satans meet, given the order to keep into contact with them in case someone tries something.
It was unspoken who, but everyone in the peerage knew she was speaking of Zekram Bael. Master had always been...untrusting of the man, disliking him and everything he did. And initially, I didn't truly understand, as while he was a politician at heart, he never seemed that dangerous.
But she eliminated that thought when she revealed that he was the one behind the fall of her family. That he was the reason the Zagan's were all dead and dusted, and that he was the reason why Rainel Phenex had done those horrid things to her mother.
He was a dangerous man, and she understood why her master was so hesitant to fight him. As he had never truly shown how strong he was, and that...that was something to be concerned about.
Even now, the Four Satans were hesitant to do anything to the man, as nobody truly knew how strong he was. About just how deep his connections and manipulations go, about what he knew, what secrets he could share, what clans he could ruin with a few words.
He was one of the oldest devils alive, so it was natural.
Walking into the council room, I paused. The Four Satans were already there, seemingly waiting for me.
Ajuka was curious in what master was doing, as usual. As the more she revealed, the more Ajuka realized that she was an intellectual rival. If only he knew just how superior she was to him. That she had inventions and ideas that eclipsed anything he had ever accomplished.
Falbium was seemingly uncaring, not showing much of a reaction to my presence. But anyone who knew the man knew that he was interested in hearing what she was here for.
Sirzechs was naturally interested in anything that involved his future sister in law. As he had become a good friend to master, as he was the one that she commonly worked with when it came to certain things she wished to sell and implement into devil society.
But it was Serafall that gave me pause. This woman...was completely lovestruck by master, she had been for a long time now. The fact that she hadn't jumped master and begged for her to make her her woman, was something that confused myself and the rest of the peerage.
But I suspect she was afraid. Afraid of what getting with the master would do to their relationship, and what it would do to the rest of the Devil society. It was...strangely cowardly for a woman like her, but I suppose I cannot blame her, not truly.
"Grayfia? How is Morgan doing? Has she begun the...you know what?" Sirzechs asked me. He made sure to be secretive in regards to what master was doing, as one wrong word, and it would be spread everywhere, and we CANNOT allow that to happen.
Zekram Bael cannot find out that the master is unconscious in a ritual that will make her a super class entity, or perhaps even beyond that.
"She has. Her...project will be complete within one week. During that time, I hope that you can keep your end of the deal. While the rest of us work to keep the masters project...running" I spoke, as this ritual was simply going to be dubbed as a "Project" until the time was right.
"Ah, excellent! And naturally we will keep up the end of our deal. Until the week is over, we'll be personally making sure that the project continues as planned. Nobody will be interrupting it, trust me" Sirzechs responded with a confident smirk on his face.
I trusted in him, but I also was hesitant to believe that nothing would happen.
Zekram Bael was smart, and even without him knowing of the project, master suspected that he would be planning something soon, and that was why we were being so very careful regarding the information on the ritual.
Was all of this showing bias towards the master? Absolutely, but the four Satans also understood that master was the future. She personified the growth of the Underworld, of our species.
Without her, the underworld will not develop as it could with her. As she has brought forth inventions and changes that not even the great Ajuka Beelzebub can even hope to compete with. Her fertility potion alone would make the devil population rise at a rapid pace, even if it was sold within extreme limits due to the political issues it could bring up with Azazel and Heaven.
"...I truly hope that is the case, Sirzechs-sama. But we both know that problems tend to arise in situations like this one, even with all the planning and preparation that had been put into place" I responded. This was the truth, the world seemed to love to throw in curveballs whenever it was the worst possible time.
And right now? It was that time. And the master knew that, so she had a lot prepared just in case.
I just pray to Lucifer that it will not be needed, because if it was...this week will be very long, and full of difficulty.
"...Yeah...let's hope that doesn't happen. But...I won't be surprised if you're right, so we'll be on our toes" Sirzechs-sama responded, nodding as he agreed. He had been around long enough to know my statement was the truth.
Soon, I left the council room, walking back to teleport home, hoping to Lucifer that nothing would happen during this week.
And Lucifer...was I wrong.
