"Brother is not here? Is he on a mission or something?" Evan asked, his voice tinged with concern.
Jake glanced at Liam, then back at Evan, hesitating for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, something like that."
Liam facepalmed, shaking his head in disappointment. 'Jake literally just told us there are 7 members in the guild, and two of them are out—one hospitalized and one on personal business. How can Evan not realize his brother is the one in the hospital? How stupid can someone be?' He sighed inwardly, pushing the thought aside. It wasn't his problem. All he wanted was his guild membership card.
"Can I get my membership card?" Liam asked, his voice cutting through the tension in the room.
Jake nodded, standing up and walking over to the cluttered desk in the corner. He rummaged through a drawer for a moment before pulling out a sleek, black envelope. He handed it to Liam with a small smile. "Here you go. Welcome to Ember's Dawn."
