Chapter 156 - The truths that burn

Asher crossed his arms.

— I'm listening to you.

Miria smiled.

—It's not one question... but three favors.

"Of course," he muttered.

— Go ahead.

— First: since I am going to ascend the throne, I want to know everything.

The clans, the species, the grimoire, Fishlegs… everything.

- Alright. History class tomorrow.

—Secondly…

She hesitated.

— I want my mother out of our relationship.

Asher was speechless.

- Eh ?!

—If she gives you an order concerning me... you ignore it.

—But Miria… she's your mother.

— Being my mother does not give her the right to choose the man of my life.

He took a deep breath.

— Message received. And the third?

— I'll tell you when the time comes.

He rolled his eyes.

- Obviously.

Miria smiled.

—You still owe me the story about my mother.

Asher sighed and sat down on a bench. Miria joined him.

—At that time, I was bored… so I went back to school.

- Seriously ? Studies?

— Everyone has their own passions.

He smiles.

— I joined high school. That's where I met Katrina… and Elma.

— Do you also know Elma?!

— They were inseparable.

We were in the same class… and quickly, they fell in love with me.

Miria chuckled.

— Amazing...

— I hesitated between the two of them.

Elma understood that Katrina loved me more... so she stepped aside.

—And why did you leave?

— Because I am immortal. Wizard…and vampire.

— I didn't want to impose that on him.

Miria lowered her head, then looked up.

"Don't you think it was her choice?"

These words hit Asher hard.

An old memory crossed his mind. A voice… the same sentence.

His eyes widened.

— Asher? What's wrong?

—Nothing…it's nothing.

But his look betrayed confusion.

The stars continued to shine, silent, guardians of truths still buried.
