"His Majesty has taken ill, and hence forth shall not be able to grace us with his presence for today." Aurora announced to the court the next day during the assembly, after word about Tesarius falling sick had been delivered to her. She wasn't surprised. After his drunken bout in the middle of the storm, this was a given. But she also knew that sickness or not, Tesarius would never show up for todays assembly in the first place, if it meant avoiding her.
Chancellor Roth filled her in on every state matters that needed attention, including some things she wasn't aware of.
"The Emperor did what?" Aurora's cup of tea stopped midway to her mouth, raising an eyebrow at Chancellor Roth's words. They were in her study, recounting the issues. The lady sighed, not knowing any easy way to say this. "Indeed, Your Majesty. It seems like His Majesty has been keeping separate ledgers without my knowledge, and I cannot say for sure what they are."
