Xia Yuqing leaned back on the bench, her arms folded and a teasing smile playing on her lips. "So, the mighty Lu Jinchen fainted at the sight of a headless ghost," she said, her tone dripping with amusement.
Lu Jinchen's face darkened immediately. "I didn't faint. I just lost balance for a moment."
"Oh, really?" she tilted her head. "Because from where I stood, it looked exactly like fainting."
His ears went slightly red. "Baby, don't exaggerate. I wasn't scared."
Xia Yuqing raised her brows, watching him squirm. Then she softened, leaning closer and patting his arm gently. "It's okay, you know. You don't always have to be that tough. Everyone's afraid of something."
He straightened, still clinging to his pride. "I'm not."
She let out a mischievous little laugh, her eyes glimmering. "Oh, what a pity then. Because I actually like men who have their own fears. It makes them real. I don't like guys who pretend to be invincible."
