Satisfied, Lu Jinchen strode to his seat and sat down. The weight of the past few weeks seemed to press against him, but sitting here, surrounded by order and control, he felt a small measure of calm return.
Gao Yiming looked at him cautiously. "How have you been, Jinchen?"
"I am fine," Lu Jinchen replied coldly.
Gao Yiming let out a soft sigh. He had always known Lu Jinchen to be cold, composed, and distant—but now, after everything that had happened with Xia Yuqing, he seemed colder than ever.
There was a sharper edge to him, a weight in his eyes that made even Gao Yiming a little wary. He opened his mouth to ask about Xia Yuqing, about the divorce, but before he could, Lu Jinchen's eyes locked onto him.
"Tell me everything I've missed in these past two weeks," Lu Jinchen commanded, his tone cutting off any possibility of small talk.
