Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Sin and Bronya

When Sin's eye ability was unleashed, the world she saw underwent a dramatic change. The world she perceived was ugly and foul. Over time, she came to recognize this sight as "normal," and all sin had become commonplace in her eyes.

The relatives who adopted her were only after her family's wealth; Sin could clearly see the evil in their hearts. But the death of her biological parents and the gossip of others caused Sin to become withdrawn. She didn't know who to tell about all this.

Sin spent a long time living in a daze in her chaotic vision. She was always lonely, even forgetting what emotions felt like. And then, a girl named Bronya burst into her world. It was a beautiful form she had once forgotten, a human soul without sin.

Sin was captivated by her pure form and showed a genuine, healthy smile. At that time, Bronya was still an army assassin, the Ural Silver Wolf. While being pursued by the police, she had fled into Sin's home. Facing the tyrannical soldiers, Bronya protected Sin, and Sin, in a state of darkness, used her ability to kill all the soldiers, saving Bronya.

Three years later, Sin had grown into a beautiful young woman, but she had never forgotten Bronya. By now, Sin's family fortune had been squandered by her foster parents. At this time, the parents heard that a charitable warlord had come to town and opened an orphanage. In order to get on the warlord's good side, the parents brought Sin to the orphanage to meet Cocolia, hoping that Cocolia would adopt Sin.

At first, Sin was indifferent, like a doll being arranged by her foster parents. But to her surprise, the assassin girl she had saved back then, Bronya, was also at the orphanage.

Sin was happy and wanted to be friends with Bronya, but Bronya thought Sin was a monster and pulled Seele away from her.

She didn't know how she got through that day. Her world had completely collapsed. By the time she came to her senses, she had been brought back home by her foster parents and had been scolded for a long time.

Because Bronya had rejected her, Cocolia did not agree to adopt her. Her parents blamed Sin for not getting on good terms with Cocolia's daughter, while Sin's attention remained fixed on the moment Bronya called her a monster. Her spirit gradually broke down.

After a falling out with Cocolia, Sin's foster parents began to look for other options. They started to package Sin, taking her to various balls in an attempt to sell her off or marry her to a wealthy man.

She watched the growing evil in her foster parents' hearts and thought of Bronya's terrified expression and her calling her a monster.

"If I'm a monster, then what are they..."

Finally, her foster parents decided to sell Sin to a local nobleman. But Sin, who had always been obedient to her foster mother, refused her parents. She killed the nobleman and her foster parents, and a great fire burned everything away. Her teeth turned into shark teeth in the fire, her long hair became short, and reborn in the flames, she came to Cocolia's Orphanage.

Cocolia took in the heavily injured Sin and, after learning her story, adopted her.

After calling Sin a monster and watching her stand there, broken, Bronya reflected on her actions with guilt for a long time. When she saw Sin again, she sincerely apologized to her.

But Sin neither accepted nor refused. She would never again reveal her heart to anyone.

Due to her childhood experiences and the distorted world her Eyes of Sin showed her, her personality became quite malicious and twisted. When Sin first entered the orphanage, although her behavior was strange, she was very eager to get close to others, as if trying to become someone else, trying her best to change herself. Although she admired Bronya, whom she saw as an angel, she was unwilling to express it directly. At the same time, she was jealous of Bronya, who always had someone by her side. She loved to play pranks, was arrogant, loved to show off, and was very competitive—this was what the people at the orphanage knew of Sin.

She really liked Seele, but she was also very jealous of her. Unable to interact with people properly, she could only use pranks and bullying to try to get Seele's attention. But it was obvious that Seele only had eyes for Bronya and couldn't possibly understand Sin's "good intentions."

"Mama, let Bronya go next." Bronya couldn't accept Sin's belittling of Seele. She wanted to use her actions to slap Sin in the face.

With a nod from Cocolia, Bronya quickly transformed the mercury into an exquisite and cute Homu doll. A happy Seele hugged Bronya from behind.

"Sister Bronya is the best!"

Sin looked at the two of them hugging happily, her expression gradually turning ferocious.

After everyone dispersed, Sin stopped Bronya at the top of the stairs.

"Hey, Bronya."

"What is it?"

"You... you like Seele, don't you?" Sin glared at Bronya, her face somewhat dark.

Bronya looked at Sin and then said with a blank expression:

"Yes, the Bronya will always be with Seele. If there's nothing else, the Bronya will take her leave."

Sin thought to herself, "Tch, how disgusting." The moment Bronya turned to go down the stairs, Sin reached out and pushed her hard.

Caught off guard, Bronya was pushed down the stairs. As the Ural Silver Wolf, Bronya should have been able to react and lessen her fall, but in mid-air, she saw Seele waiting for her at the turn of the stairs. She froze for a moment, losing the time to change her posture.

In the end, Bronya fell heavily to the ground.

Sin had no intention of letting Bronya off just like that. She stomped hard on Bronya's calf while shouting.

"You can't! You can't! You can't do this!"

Bronya buried her head, clenched her teeth, and neither fought back nor made a sound. She knew Seele was just around the corner; she could hear Seele's trembling breaths.

The moment she saved Seele two years ago, Bronya had made up her mind that she would never hurt anyone again...

She would never forget how she was covered in blood, how Seele trembled, her eyes full of fear, calling her a demon and telling her not to come closer. This was probably the only thing Bronya and Sin had in common...

Anti-Entropy X-10 Experiment Base, Underwater Laboratory.

"In this test, these few children have the best Honkai energy adaptability."

"Have you found anyone whose mind has been corrupted by Honkai energy?"

"No, we have not found any."

"Then begin preparations for the next phase of the experiment. This is all for Anti-Entropy, for the salvation of humanity.

I'm just doing this so my children can survive in a world with the Honkai, that's all!"

Cocolia looked at the children on the screen. The portraits of Bronya and Sin were brightly lit, while she had placed a question mark on Seele's portrait.
