Levi was taken into an underground cell along with some other captives, whom Levi presumed to be human.
a couple of hours passed. Levi could see the look of despair adorned on many of the captives. As he gazed upon his fellow captives, he noticed the style of dressing varied a bit among them.
Maybe they were taken from different places. that is not important now; I need to find out what is going on.
he saw a hulking man, his face chiseled from granite, resentment coloring his rough features.
'it's probably best if I try to avoid this big guy.'
Beside him sat, a frail, elderly figure with eyes sunken as if into the depths of his skull, his face, a map of wrinkles; he probably was a bit knowledgeable due to his age.
'Sir, if it doesn't bother you, I'd like to know where this place is, who were those people who brought us here and why did they bring us here.' Levi asked
The old man turned his frail head over to Levi.
"muhwahahah!....*cough**cough*.... Death! Death! That is all that awaits us all here! this place you ask, I call it the carnifex. it is the place where venators train. they train by dueling real tainted *cough* creatures in battles to the death. But when no one is fighting these tainted creatures, Muhahahahaah they of course have to be fed.*cough* that is what we are here for." *cough* *cough* the old man then broke into a fit of coughing, falling to the ground and clutching his chest. once the coughing stopped, the got up once more then broke into a fit of laughter "Muhahahahahaha! Dead, I tell you, we all dead men here" hearing this, a young girl burst into tears, her eyes wide with terror, her tiny hands clenched into fists. A voluptuous woman wearing revealing clothing inched closer to the girl possibly in an attempt to console her, but at that exact moment the large man from earlier spoke "Let her be, she's right to be scared. we all should be scared, but that doesn't change the inevitable. But it isn't like any of us here do not deserve it. Afterall only the scum among men ends up here. The woman looked at the Man, her expression a mixture of fear and resignation. Levi's eyes went wide, his face paled with the revealation. his expression grim, jaw clenched in a stifled curse.
does that mean that, those creatures I saw earlier, we...we...
but before Levi could finish that thought, the door slammed open with a loud bang, a bunch of giant men from earlier slowly and confidently walked in holding their spears, disregarding all those inside they spoke among themselves "Ala ka ba yeli ii ti nokum ma?" another responded "di wini anasi bee ataa". they then proceeded grabbed some of the captives, mostly those who were closest to the door. one of the giant's hands clamped around Levi. The old man laughed maniacally without putting up any kind of resistance. The large man almost as large as the giants put up no form of resistance quietly allowing himself to be apprehended. The little girl cried and scream throwing her legs about frantically. The woman tried running away but her efforts were met with a spear through the back of her head, instantly killing her. those that were not caught scattered in all directions fearing for their lives, but there was nowhere to run to. Only ten were taken though, they cried out pleading for mercy but only made the giants smile. he and the others were dragged through branching passages were each of the giant men took one prisoner and headed towards a separate passage.
Levi stood at the edge of the arena; the stench of blood filled the air. The dirt beneath his feet shook as the crowd roared. But Levi couldn't care less about any of this. His back broke into a cold sweat. Every hair on his body stood up. His eyes locked onto the creature before him. The creature's form was unlike any Levi had ever seen, a mass of bulging, pulsing flesh, its dark brown skin, littered with numerous scars, deep and shallow. Its piercing blood-red eyes locked on Levi, its mouth wide open, revealing jagged rows of its stained teeth. a low growl escaped from its open mouth.
Heart racing, Levi struggled to think straight. The crowd's deafening roars made it all the more difficult.
