"Noted," Cream Puff hummed in a smug little tone that made Ava squint at it like she was debating swatting it from the air.
Before she could retort, the chamber shifted. A low hum vibrated through the floor, and suddenly, glowing panels rose up in a wide arc around the edges of the room. Each panel shimmered, then resolved into tall weapon racks, rows of gleaming arms materializing as though being sculpted by light itself. Blades, staffs, bows, spears, crossbows, even strange-looking gauntlets—all neatly arranged, catching the glow of the ceiling like jewels on display.
Ava's jaw fell open. "Oh. My. Stars."
She bolted forward like a kid rushing into a candy store, skidding to a stop at the first rack. Her eyes sparkled as she hovered her hands over the weapons, not daring to touch at first.
