Sylas quickly got inside the car, followed by Leo and Dylan.
There were a few zombies scattered around, and all the mutated dogs had been dealt with.
"Quick, go!" Major Kyle shouted as he got inside the car, slamming the car door shut. If they didn't leave now, more and more zombies would gather, drawn by the sounds of their fighting.
Everyone got inside the car and quickly sped off now that the road was clear.
"Sylas, did you find the energy stone inside the mutated dog's head?" Major Kyle asked. He had noticed Sylas splitting open the mutated dog's head.
Sylas took out the energy stone from his pocket and said, "Yes, Major. It's this."
Major Kyle took the red fire ability energy stone from Sylas' hand and observed it.
"It looks like the energy stone's color varies according to the ability type," Major Kyle said.
"It seems so," Leo and Dylan nodded as they looked at the red energy stone.
"Sylas, this energy stone won't be of any use to you since you are a space ability user, so how about you give this to me? As you know, I am a fire ability user, and this fire ability energy stone is of great importance to me. Don't worry, I won't be taking it for free. This time, after collecting the supplies, you can keep twenty percent of them in your space," Major Kyle said in a serious tone.
Sylas didn't say that he could absorb the fire ability energy stone. Before he figured out certain things by himself, he was not going to share any of his ability secrets with anyone. If others knew that he could absorb all kinds of energy stones, he didn't know what would happen.
"This energy stone is of no use to me, Major. You can take it," Sylas replied. If he didn't, he would draw unnecessary attention, so even though he was curious, he agreed to Major Kyle's proposal. However, he planned to look for another energy stone without them noticing and try absorbing it once more to test the outcome. He didn't feel anything unusual when he absorbed the fire ability energy stone earlier, so he had a feeling that it wouldn't be a bad thing for him.
"Thank you. In the future, if nothing happens to me, I will help you acquire space energy stones," Major Kyle said.
"No problem, Major Kyle," Sylas replied.
Major Kyle immediately activated his energy and started absorbing the fire ability energy stone. Within a minute, the red energy stone visibly faded in color, and soon, the stone itself began to disintegrate.
Major Kyle opened his eyes, and the energy stone in his hand had turned into dust.
"Major, we have reached the destination," Shuan said at the same time.
The front of the convenience store was damaged, and they could see a few zombies roaming near the door and along the road.
"Sylas, you focus on storing the supplies in your space, and we will be responsible for killing the zombies," Major Kyle said.
"And everyone, try to deal with the zombies as fast as possible. Let's not attract more zombies or unwanted guests. We will leave as soon as Sylas finishes storing the supplies," Major Kyle added.
The other soldiers in the back cars also received Major Kyle's instructions through the walkie-talkie and responded.
"Yes, Major!"
As soon as the car arrived near the convenience store, the zombies noticed them, attracted by the sound of the vehicle.
When they got out of the car, they immediately sprang into action and started dealing with the zombies.
Sylas headed straight toward the convenience store entrance. The entrance was already damaged, and many goods were scattered everywhere. It was clear that the store had been ransacked.
A few zombies inside the convenience store immediately lunged at Sylas, attacking him. Sylas immediately raised his hand, and spatial blades flew out, severing the zombies' heads.
Sylas stored the goods inside his space as he moved through the store.
He dealt with the zombies while hurriedly storing the supplies.
For him, dealing with these zombies was no hassle. His spatial ability was more than enough to handle them. As long as he didn't encounter another abnormal entity with abilities, he was confident.
Dylan and Serena followed behind Sylas and helped him deal with the remaining zombies.
Within no time, Sylas' space was full.
"Let's go. My space is full," Sylas said as he rushed out of the store.
Seeing Sylas rush out, Major Kyle and the others, who were dealing with zombies outside, quickly retreated toward the car.
"Let's go, everyone, hurry," Major Kyle said.
This time, apart from the encounter with the mutated dogs, everything went smoothly.
They reached the safe zone before dark. As promised by Major Kyle, Sylas was allowed to retain twenty percent of the supplies. For Sylas, having food stocked inside his space gave him a strong sense of security, so he didn't reject it. In this apocalypse, food was everything. Money, gold, silver, and similar things held no value.
At the same time, Sylas noticed something very concerning.
The supplies brought back by the teams were being used up at a very fast pace. With no food production and only constant consumption, how long would they last? Sooner or later, the base would fall apart. The military could not provide continuous food to the public in the safe zone forever.
There would soon come a time when people would fight and kill each other for a piece of bread.
So for Sylas, having a space where he could stockpile food was a huge advantage.
Sylas closed his eyes and scanned his space using his senses. Inside his space, there were bottled water, instant noodles, biscuits, milk, clothes, shoes, and many other necessary things. As Sylas observed, he noticed that his space had increased in size.
Sylas immediately focused his senses and scanned his space once again to confirm it. After a few rounds of scanning, Sylas finally concluded that his space had indeed increased, although the increase in size was very minute, so he hadn't noticed it before.
Sylas was quite puzzled but soon remembered the fire ability stone he had accidentally absorbed today.
"Don't tell me it's because of that," Sylas thought, his heart racing.
