Chapter 80 - Pt. 10: 79: Visiting Old Pack

After dealing with Monica, Rose Slayer took a break, making the news about her killings quiet down, but not their nightlife. Back at home, Vincencio just finished his usual routine around the Midnight Guardian's port and was having a nice coffee when Skylar arrived home before eleven.

"Beating the clock?" he teased.

"Yeah, and you, why are you still awake?" Skylar chuckled and asked.

"Because of me, Sky." Xian Monsour, the second elder brother of Vincencio, answered, grinning.

"I know you don't want me here, but this man insisted," Shana said immediately before Skylar could throw intimidation at her.

"Let me guess, it's about the nomad causing an alarming ruckus for everyone recently?" She dropped her guess, making the couple in the kitchen sigh, but nodded.

"It's somehow escalating." Xian shared his worry, making Shana squeeze his hand for assurance.

"Sounds like you're needing our assistance." She guessed, and the couple nodded, making her sigh. "Seriously, I just took a break from my night hunt and now this."

"Sorry, Wifey." Vincencio apologized while pouting, making Skylar flick his head. "Ouch."

"None, taken, Hubby." Skylar sighed before firmly deciding, "Inform your Alpha, the Night Rose will aid them."

"Night Rose?" Xian wondered.

"Our pack." Vincencio grinned, making the couple look at each other.

"What? We're reversed. Get used to it." Skylar coldly said before calling the newly added member to inform them of their absence tomorrow and letting them take care of the house for a while. Then, I later went upstairs to change.

Skylar was not surprised, despite it being her first time visiting a rural town where Vincencio grew up. She was welcomed, but some gave her a wary look until the wind brushed against her body. They started relaxing because she was not just a vampire, but she was a mated vampire and with their young alpha. However, as they were on the way to the pack house, Skylar could feel something sinister in five hundred yards, but not making any move, it was just watching.

"Hubby, at three in five hundred yards, a sinister vampire has been watching the pack," Skylar informed Vincencio through their telepathy.

'I felt it too, and I think that's the reason why the security became tighter. And here we are.'

"Is this the pack house you grew up in?" Skylar asked since the house was a two-floor cabin mansion, which she liked, making Vincencio grin and nod.

"Yeah, and it was still the same," Vincencio replied and linked her hand with his before they stepped on the front porch when someone opened the door before they could knock.

"Welcome home, Vincencio and Skylar." Vincencio's mother, Aquila James Monsour, welcomed the couple warmly and then invited them in. "Come in and let's have a chat."

"I need to speak with Dad, Mom." Vincencio hugged his mother while saying the intention of their visit.

"Office. He's talking with some neighboring pack regarding the issue, which I think they already told you because you're here." Aquila answered warmly.

"And my wife might be able to help." He said with a genuine smile, but Skylar's attention was elsewhere, sensing everything in the pack.

"Then go and meet your father." She said, pointing to the alpha's office, where Skylar's eyes narrowed.

"We'll do it later." Skylar quickly said and turned to him sweetly. "Hubby, can you tour me first? I wanna see the place you grew up."

"You heard her, Mom." Vincencio chuckled, but he sensed something different in his wife's sweetness.

"Okay, be careful and don't step out of the pack's perimeter, rogues were roaming lately." Aquila reminded the couple.

"Noted." He said and led the way out once again to the pack house, leaving his mother smiling gratefully at what Vincencio finally found.

As the couple toured around the pack, they were greeted with politeness and gratitude for Skylar's appearance in his life before they chased each other around the woods. They were running wild, doing stunts that were synchronized, but that was not the only thing they were doing; they were marking areas where they sensed danger.

"Okay, that's enough. You win based on agility." Vincencio chuckled as he caught his wife's waist, pulling her closer before kissing her cheeks adoringly.

"Ohho, want to try my strength next?" Skylar teasingly wondered while cracking her fingers.

"Neh, I already knew your stamina around the bed, so nope…" With a wink, he said teasingly before adding, "…. I don't need to know it more."

"HUBBY!" Skylar exclaimed, punching his face in the process, but Vincencio managed to catch it.

"What? I'm just stating the truth." He refuted teasingly, making Skylar blush, and covered her face before walking away from his side.

"YOU'RE TOO MUCH!" She shouted and entered the pack house, where Vincencio followed while laughing.

"Vince, stop teasing your wife." Jean Hathaway, Vincencio's girl best friend and gamma, chuckled.

"Can't help it. She's adorable." Vincencio defensively said as he followed his wife, who sat on the couch where his childhood best friends sat with her mother.

"And she's a vampire. I heard some vampires had some temperamental issues as well, so be careful not to get overboard." Robin Hudson, another best friend and a sentinel who mated with Jean, added his warning.

"Well, he already tasted it," Skylar informed them, making them look at Vincencio, grinning.

"In bed." He added teasingly and winked at his wife, who glared at him.

"Hubby. I'm warning you. Say that again, you'll be sleeping outside the house." She warned firmly, and Vincencio chuckled.

"No. I mean, you can't sleep without me." He wiggled his brows, but Skylar was serious.

"Want to try me?" She dared coldly, making him shiver because Skylar would definitely kick him out once they got back home.

"Ahh…nope…not at all." He said skeptically and defeated.

"Whipped." His friends commented teasingly, making them chuckle when the alpha came out with their neighbor pack leaders, a vampire man and a werewolf lady.

Vincencio and his friends stood up as they politely bowed to their guests, while Aquila went to her husband's side. However, the leaders looked over Skylar's way, who wasn't fazed by their presence. They squinted their eyes and felt challenged.

"And who is this impolite vampire lass in your pack?" the werewolf lady spat, glaring at how Skylar sat on the couch, not bothered by the authority they emitted.

"My wife, Lady…" Vincencio answered, but didn't finish – he could not finish his words because of his wife's cold voice.

"Don't you dare pay respect to that bloody wolf, Vince, or I'll make sure you'll never return to our house later." Skylar firmly warned, making the tension around the living area palpable.

"You have a sharp tongue, but you should pay respect…" the vampire man grinned and was about to demand when Skylar cut him off.

"Don't finish your word, Mr. Brite Hamilton, if you don't want me to collect your debt against the general." With a grimace, Skylar spat coldly, and her eyes sternly glared at him.

"You…" the vampire man was about to say something when Vincencio quickly grabbed his neck and slammed him to the wall, growling defensively.

"I'm going to kill you." Vincencio deeply growled as he tightened his grip around the vampire's neck. Her parents and friends tried to stop him, but he was not listening, making Skylar sigh.

"Hubby, enough." Skylar commanded firmly, making Vincencio growl before she continued, "He's going to do it again without facing the consequence of losing his family."

Vincencio growled more before letting his neck go and went to his wife's side, who appeared in front of the vampire, crouching. Skylar grabbed his chin to meet her flaring, bloody eyes.

"G-general…so it's true…you're alive…" the vampire man, Mr. Brite Hamilton, stuttered in familiarity when he saw the general in flesh. He began sobbing like a lost child and stuttered. "I can't believe it…But I'm sorry…I didn't realize until it was too late. , Josh, the others, and I were guilty as we waited for our general's punishment after we saw the message on the news…"

"I know. I've been watching and tell me, do you want me to collect your debt from betraying me that night, Mr. Brite – I mean, Lieutenant H?" Skylar wondered coldly but still firm, like commanding.

"Please do so; just protect my family, my pack, in return. They were shaken up from losing some of our youngsters in the city, and I don't want them to get through with it again. Please…I'll do everything you ask. Anything, General, just names it." He replied, crying and cowering on his knees.

"Anything?" She asked, hoping to hear his answer clearly.

"Anything." He answered firmly, meeting her cold eyes.

"Then repay your debt by staying alive, protecting your pack, and being loyal to me." She commandingly said, making him look at her in disbelief.

"But General..." He felt undeserving of her kindness, but Skylar knew her men from the disloyal ones.

"Let me handle the rest. Just give me details of everything you've got and don't betray me again." She firmly assured him, but also gave a warning. "You already know what I can do to those who betrayed me."

"Yes, General." He responded as he politely saluted with brightness. He was given another chance to serve the only general he promised to follow if given another shot, despite the betrayal he had committed.

"And welcome home, Lieutenant H." She warmly said, patting his shoulder before adding, "Give Beta Din a call and inform them of your pack's problems in detail."

"Affirmative." He responded and quickly excused himself to make a direct phone call.

Skylar stood up with a commanding presence as she watched her lieutenant make a call when she sensed the disbelief looks coming from Vincencio's family, particularly to the lady werewolf. She just sighed and glared at her husband, who was snickering in his spot.

"Sorry, wifey. It's hilarious how they look dumbfounded when you command a vampire alpha of a pack." Vincencio chuckled but admitted how funny their reaction was before adding, "Is it your blood bond working on him too?"

"Before I even knew about it, he's one of us already. I know who were loyal to me regardless of their betrayal that night." Skylar replied coldly when she felt a stern gaze from the unknown werewolf lady.

"Can somebody explain and tell me who this vampire is who's not fazed by our presence?" the werewolf lady, an alpha from the neighboring pack, confusedly asked.

"I'm Skylar Saison-Monsour, Vincencio's legitimate and only wife and Luna. The same person who doesn't want to have debt with or to mess with." Skylar introduced herself with firmness and a slight sarcasm.

"Are you threatening me?" She scoffed with annoyance at how Skylar responded with sarcasm.

"Did I threaten you?" She refuted, making the woman annoyed, and was about to refute when she spoke again. "Control your temper, Alpha. I'm just awakened and still haven't fully controlled my vampire side, so please, don't press it more."

The werewolf lady was about to say something when Skylar's vampire side released its threatening power. It was overwhelming, and her knees quivered. She was not afraid, but her wolf suddenly acknowledged her as a queen and respectfully bowed at her.

"Your wolf knew…" Skylar mumbled as she saw a wolf acknowledging her vampire's presence.

"You've seen my wolf?" She wondered, but Skylar shrugged her shoulders.

"Not quite, but she's a strong-willed alpha. Rule the pack with kind fearlessness and always secure them, but don't get overboard to the point they'll turn their backs on you. Don't give them reason to belittle the pack ruled by a woman like you." Skylar gave firm advice before smiling encouragingly at her, "You're capable enough."

"That's nice for you to say, I'm Alpha Hyudura Striker." With acknowledgement, she introduced herself to Skylar, who was pleased to meet her.

"Return to your pack, the night is carrying a big storm." She said, and Alpha Hyudara nodded and left the pack.

"General, I'll head back to Beta Din, and they've already confirmed our pack's security." Brite politely informed and saluted before leaving after Skylar waved her hand dismissively.

"Wifey, are you hiding something from me?" Vincencio carefully asked what he noticed on his wife's vampire side.

"Nothing much but being in this land, a hazy memory flashed. Hm, not sure, but it felt like I knew the nomad who was doing the abductions around the city lately." Skylar sighed, confused as well about what had just happened.

She felt nostalgia around the pack. It might not be exactly around Vincencio's pack, but the fact that it was around the woods and nature, her hazy dream felt real at the moment, like it came from a memory she wasn't sure if it was hers or from her old life.

"The nomad from Shana's sketches, whom you were curious about?" he carefully guessed, and Skylar nodded.

"You mean Rudolf Strange?" Vincencio's father, the alpha, Jake Monsour, asked and showed the image he also received from Shana.

"Do you know them, Dad?" Vincencio wondered.
