Chapter 88 - Pt. 11: 87: Turning the Clock On

Skylar was always the boss by the way she carried herself and moved around her businesses during the entire day. However, when the night began to tick, she turned into a predator, killing her remaining prey on her blacklist. She made sure she collected their debts perfectly until Friday came. Skylar let Vincencio take over the company as she personally went to the SaiRus Corp. for a request meeting. But during the drive to the company, Skylar's vampire instincts began kicking in. She quickly sensed a strange nomad lurking around the company's perimeter.

"Hm, he's being watched." Skylar amusingly muttered, making Joey carefully drive around the southern part of the city.

"Should I notify Delta about this?" Joey asked, sensing the same thing when they entered the business district.

"Keep recording. Who knows, we might find it before anyone does." Smirking, she replied while being excited about what may happen during her meeting before adding, "And if anything else happened while I'm in the meeting, tell my husband."

"Anything?" He wondered.

"Anything odd?" She answered when she saw a familiar café, making her stop the drive. "Drop me here. I'll buy some coffee and perhaps, find something else."

"As you wish," Joey smirked because he knew that whenever his boss strolled into some area, Skylar was marking. "Take care, boss."

"I'll call you to pick me up." Skylar said before softly whispering, "You know the drill, Omega."

"Affirmative." He saluted before Skylar completely got out of the car and entered the café.

***

The café was the same as any cozy café with a garden setup, and Skylar loves the smell of freshly brewed coffee, but something else was mixing with it, the smell of a familiar fragrance of a woman. She found herself sitting by the booth, isolated, and waiting for her takeout orders. But her eyes were watching the woman differently from her memories. Yet, the blood residing inside her speaks differently until the woman approaches her.

"Here's your order." The woman was in her mid-forties, but Skylar knew her age was more than she looked.

"He's around town. Rico and I will start a game." Skylar softly whispered as she accepted the order before getting up and thanking the woman, "Thanks for this."

"Please, come back again." The woman responded, yet left a soft whisper that only Skylar's ears could hear, "We'll be waiting then."

Skylar smiled and left the café, carrying their favorite coffee flavors and heading to the SaiRus Corps, which was a couple of blocks away from the café. However, Skylar began smelling nomads lurking around as she got close to the building.

"Damn, this is going to be exciting." She thought as she entered the company and waltzed to the reception. "Urgent meeting with the CEO."

"Name?" The receptionist asked.

"Skylar Monsour." She answered, making the receptionist check the system for an urgent meeting.

"You're right on time, Ma'am. The CEO is waiting." The receptionist answered and pointed to the elevator area. "Please proceed on the private lift at the center."

"Thank you." She thanked the receptionist before riding the lift, but her eyes caught a glimpse of the nomads, pretending to be working as janitors of the company. She smirked sinisterly before whispering, "He invited him for a while."

By the time she walked through the CEO's hall, Skylar had been checking the painting on the wall, even the mural by the secretary's area. Seeing Skylar approaching, the secretary welcomed her with familiarity, but Skylar waved her hand, dismissing pleasantry, and entered the CEO's office without knocking.

"I brought us some coffee," Skylar said without greeting the busy CEO, Fredric.

"Hm, by the looks of that coffee, you met her." Fredric guessed when he glanced at the cups she brought with her, making her chuckle, and handed her the cup.

"I did, and seriously, there's a mob of them around this area." She responded before sipping, walking around his office.

"I know, that's why I couldn't join you when you transferred into a bigger house." He sighed apologetically.

"I understand." She said, shaking her head before going to their business, "So, how does it go? Any progress on the game?"

"There is, and we're good to go, but are you?" he responded, returning the question, and she nodded.

"Always." She smirked before asking, "So, when do you want to launch it?"

"As soon as possible." He seriously answered, making Skylar narrow her eyes.

"Feeling threatened?" She guessed, making him sigh heavily before nodding.

"A little, that's why they were moving closer." He answered lowly. Skylar went silent for a second before sighing, finishing her cup.

"I see." She answered, thinking a perfect place for a game to launch before smirking and sharing her idea, "If you want to launch it, then there's a perfect venue for it."

"Where is that?" he wondered.

"Remember the Black Tower Prison?" She asked, but her smirk hadn't left her lips, making Fredric nod before she continued, "I already prepared Silas to run the papers on a certain land not far from the prison tower. Luckily, the preview city mayor quickly approved it without realizing who would be the owner of the land."

"And what name did you put there?" he asked, grinning to the free space near the Black Tower Prison.

"Blue Rose," Skylar answered smugly, making Fredric chuckle.

"Interesting." Fredric amusingly commented on the name his sister gave to the area.

"I know, and here's the address." She chuckled and gave the copy of the address before adding, "Just give me a call when you want to start, and be sure to take them there."

"Got it." He nodded, reading the address before looking at his sister with a sinister grin.

"See you by then." She smirked and was about to leave the office when she recalled something, "Oh, another thing, she misses you."

"Then I'll get her." He replied, understanding what she meant there.

"Noted." She winked and left the SaiRus Corp, talking to Joey. "We're done."

'Already by the front door.'

Skylar thanked the receptionist again and the security personnel by the front door before riding in their car. As soon as they got out of the company's area, Skylar received a notification from Josh's hidden software.

Delta Notification:

More or less seventy VN (vampire nomads) were working loyally under RS (Rudolf Stranger), and they were mostly eyeing Sir Fredric's movements and transactions. As for the fifteen to twenty VN & WR (wolf rogues), they were manipulated with strong compulsion and addictive desire, or threatened by their most feared issues, and were mostly appointed to watch areas and people Fredric interacted with. Overall, we're facing ninety creatures; RS is not included.

"Damn, my slayer's side began to be thirsty with their blood." Skylar tauntingly muttered, making Joey shiver while driving.

"Sky, tone it done. I don't want to get into the accident due to your malicious intent." Joey reminded his boss in the back seat.

"Ops! Sorry." She apologized, giggling before typing a response on her delta's notification.

Respond to Delta's Notification:

Alpha Lar: Joshie, notified everyone. Make sure our security is tight enough for our family to stay protected and hidden from any form of threat. Make sure none of them will fall astray again.

Delta: Affirmative.

"Now, let's see how the tick will click this time around," Skylar muttered while looking at the street as they drove away from the southern city.

La Luna Perfume & Jewelry was moving smoothly, but behind the stable progress of the projects, Skylar stumbled into a nuisance shadow watching her company, trying to make a petty trouble, rising conflict, which luckily, she always managed without leaving conflict or a trace of being handled poorly. However, it was persistent, amusingly annoying, and that will hit a jackpot.

"Report." Skylar firmly commanded as she stood intimidatingly by the huge window of her office, watching the city lights glow beneath her skyscraper company.

"Inhumane ability caught red-handed from the lurking shadow around the company. It was the same report I've received from subsidiary branches, hotels, and restaurants around the city. Most of them were the areas Mr. Fredric Rusco has been to lately." Medina began sharing the reports she received before leaving the copy on Skylar's desk, before adding, "It's giving pressure and annoyance to the managers."

"Then tell my managers to keep us posted and wait for my command. And please, Med, remind them that once I make a command, they need to make sure the coast is clear." Skylar firmly responded when she found something worth smirking before reminding, "Are we clear on that?"

"Yes, boss." She answered politely before adding another notification with a mysterious dark violet letter on her desk, "Another thing, boss, this letter was left earlier by the receptionist, and Mr. Rusco is on line three."

Skylar glanced over her shoulder for a few seconds before looking out the window again, waving but amused over the night's air. Her blood was on the rush, ready to do her bidding, and she started the clock, but she needed to hear his response first before anything else moved.

"Go home, Medina, and ensure my daughter's safety when I message you." She said before walking toward her desk, looking at the letter.

"Should we add real blood and mess around the house or not?" Medina suggested, making Skylar smirk.

"A few, but the mess must be a believable one." She replied before she picked up the call on line three while opening the letter.

"Noted." She politely bowed before leaving a whisper, "Take care."

"Always." She responded as her grin grew wide, reading the letter.

Mysterious Letter

Dear Mrs. CEO of La Luna Perfume & Jewelry,

I'm not pleased with your business transaction with the SaiRus Corp. without considering having business with us, too. But I'll give you a chance and have a meeting with you. I'll make sure you won't regret doing business with us, not like with them.

PS.

Give us a call. 0879XXXXXX

"You won't believe that I received an arrogant letter from them." Skylar amusingly commented while her phone was to her ear before adding, "So, what do you think?"

'If you are still considering working with them, then arrange the meeting place. You're in the upper hand.'

"I know, but are you ready?" she wondered, smirking while soaking the letter with hot coffee before burning it piece by piece.

'Yes, in a few more hours, get ready to cry.'

"Don't worry, I'm also an actress." Amusingly, Skylar chuckled.

'I know you are. See you in a few.'

Skylar was excited and ready to get into a different kind of action between the creatures of the night. She knew this task would be different from the usual because this night was the start of a pure, dangerous stunt that could end her darkness, and yet, she didn't care. She knew she would be returning to her family, but things needed to get done before she could. However, the game flow must be followed.

"Patience is a virtue. But his clock is different from ours." Skylar muttered, grinning while staring at the wall clock, before sinisterly whispering, "Let's see how you will react to this one."

***

Skylar was lost in the rhythm of her workflow as she did her overtime in her office when the clock read nine-fifteen and her phone blasted. She let it ring for four to ten times before picking up, fully masked – fully different persona.

"I'm on my way –!" Skylar answered the call from Irina, but the other line was fuzzy due to the panting and crying that her daughter was in. "Baby, what's going on? What are you doing?"

'Mom…they took her…'

"So, it started on my clock." Skylar thought, yet her expression became grim in worry before asking, "Who's they?"

'I don't know. It was too fast. Medina and I took her out for an ice cream and to pick you up, but on our way, we were being hijacked and they took her.'

"And Medina?" Skylar, emotionless, asked as she rushed out of the company.

'Tracking them.'

"She's still a human, right?" Skylar suddenly asked because the last time she knew that Medina was a human and Irina was a vampire, but she wasn't sure if they had decided to live together as vampires.

'MOM! FOCUS! YOU'RE CHILD, MY SISTER WAS KIDNAPPED!'
