Chapter 124 - Pt. 14: 123: Workaholic Luna

Skylar sprinted to the pack's clinic and firmly asked the doctor to keep her visit a secret because she wanted to clarify something. Their pack doctor checked her and confirmed her pregnancy, which finally made her cry. She was happy and decided to surprise Vincencio.

"Doc, do not say a word about this. I want to surprise him." Skylar said, wiping her happy tears away from her eyes.

"Sure, and congratulations, Luna," the pack doctor greeted her and smiled, before reminding, "But don't overwork or stress yourself. It will affect your baby."

"Noted, Doc." She said and hurried back into the pack house to prepare something for everyone.

Sadly, she was still not good at it.

Skylar goes through her usual routine around the pack house, which often leads to some chaotic situations. It started around the laundry area when she attempted to wash their clothes, which almost resulted in a flood. Thankfully, Medina and Irina were there to save the day. Then, the most concerning one was when she nearly burned the kitchen again while cooking, alarming them, but fortunately, the food survived. Vincencio might have found the situation amusing, but he didn't want his wife to destroy their house from her attempts to help. So, she kicked her out to prevent any further disaster in their household.

"Hubby, you did not just kick me out." Skylar pouted, trying to coax her husband into a slight fury, but it was not working. He glared at her, holding their laughing little toddler.

"I just did and head to work." Vincencio clarified firmly before sighing, "I'll check on you later."

"But..." Skylar tried to reason when Medina cut her off.

"Let him take care where you're not good at, Sky," Medina said softly, but there was a hint of tease in his voice. Skylar glared but understood what she meant there.

"Fine. I'll grill later then." She suggested, and they looked at her, horrified.

"NO!" Medina and Irina shouted in unison, jolting her in the process.

"Absolutely not." Vincencio joined them, making her frown.

"Mom, are you sure you don't want to bring down the pack through fire?" Irina asked carefully but teasingly, making the rest chuckle, and she frowned.

"You three are so unbelievable." She gasped, feeling offended before pouting and whining a little, "I'm telling this to them."

"No need, we heard."

Skylar's parents came and clearly heard the teasing commotion in the kitchen.

"Mom, Dad, they were ganging up on me." Skylar accused quickly, pouting like a child. It was adorable, but her parents decided to tease her, too.

"Well, you got that from your mother." Her father chuckled, but his wife slapped his shoulder.

"Excuse me. I know how to cook decent food and not burn it." Her mother defended firmly, making Skylar frown.

"Seriously, even my parents." She sighed in disbelief, shaking her head before sighing dramatically again, "Nobody loves me anymore."

"Stop being dramatic, Sky." Medina chuckled, stopping her friend before adding a reminder, "Let's go before the company burns itself.

"And why will my company burn if I don't hurry up?" With a quick change of her tone, Skylar asked firmly, making Medina flinch because she knew what it meant - storm.

"The usual problem among the demanding clients and our teams at each project has been on edge, trying to meet them halfway, but they were taking advantage of your absence lately," Medina reported calmly, making Skylar sigh and go into her CEO workaholic mode.

"I see, brief me on the way before I decide what to do with their projects at hand." She said coldly, with a commanding presence as she grabbed her coat, pecked her little toddler's head, and kissed Vincencio, before whispering, "I've got something for you."

"What?" Vincencio wondered, but Skylar winked, not spoiling the surprise.

"Later, I'll give it to you, but I must handle this first." She said before kissing him again.

"Okay, I'll drop your lunch later and be careful on the way." He said, smiling as he watched his wife head to the door with Medina.

"We will." She replied and headed out where Joey was already waiting for their car. Inside the car, Skylar's light mood became sharply and intimidatingly cold, "Report."

Stepping out from their car, the air had shifted. It was engaging and heavy, making some employees who had just arrived early stop on their tracks and respectfully bow at her. Skylar acknowledged their presence but didn't entertain them. She just waltzed into her company with confidence and intimidation that froze the entire floor as she passed by. Medina and Joey chuckled on her side as they entered the private lift.

"Oh, that never gets old." Joey reacted first.

"True." Medina agreed.

"Shut up and prepare all the teams that have been handling their projects." Skylar cut their amusement short and went cold to her demand. "I wanted to hear their side and check their progress."

"Understood, boss," Median responded calmly and began checking her work tablet it.

"Joey, get me their footage while I'm away and send it to me as soon as you get them." She commanded seriously, before sighing hopefully, "I just hope they weren't harassing my employees because I'm not around to face them."

"Noted, boss." Joey agreed, stepping out from the lift and went to his workplace.

"Med, check with our lawyer about the contract we had with them. I just want to make sure the policy in case we pulled out the project in the middle, and be sure that we didn't lose more than they."

"Looking at it," Medina replied, doing exactly what Skylar had said while they walked to the CEO's floor.

"Add every possibility to it. I don't want any clients who belittle our men's abilities." She said sternly as Medina opened the door for her.

"Understood, boss." She responded before adding, "And you had a meeting with SaiRus Corps at ten."

"Hm...did my brother add why I asked for a meeting early in the morning?" She wondered as she tossed her coat on the couch.

"I think it has something to do with SaiRus Corps shares." She replied, checking her boss's schedule for the day.

"Oh, right, we're siblings." She chuckled slightly, almost forgetting they were siblings. Then Skylar added something that she almost forgot to share, "Medina, do you think Irina is ready to inherit this company?"

"You mean?" she trailed off, but already understood what Skylar was trying to say.

"I'm planning on transferring this company to her. What do you say?" She clarified, making Medina nod.

"Well, she's more into the arts and foods than technicality." She reasoned, making Skylar chuckle because it was true.

"Then can you manage this place while she handles the hotels?" she wondered, and Medina shook her head, declining it.

"Sky, that's a big offer when I'm just good at following orders." She replied, and Skylar knew it. She just tried to ask.

"Okay, just keep in mind that I'll be transferring this to her, and I hope you'll guide her as her secretary." She said, reminding Medina of the possibility of her being a boss too because she's dating Irina.

"Why, I've got the feeling I'll be running the company in the shadows while Irina takes the front?" Medina sighed, seeing already how their tandem would work in case Skylar transferred the company to Irina. Skylar chuckled amusingly.

"Well, it could happen. You knew her too well, that's why you can say it like that." She said, agreeing with Medina's thought.

"Oh boy. I'd better prepare then." She sighed, shaking her head but smiling about the future between her and Irina.

"You'd better." Skylar agreed, waving her hand to dismiss Medina, and started working.

***

Skylar worked non-stop by dealing with annoying clients and their projects, which luckily weren't a waste, and continued doing business with them. However, Skylar made sure they were on their watchlist, meaning they could pull out projects without losing profit. Their company always meets deadlines, but if the clients aren't reasonable, the projects will be canceled before proceeding to the rest of the meeting she has to attend.

"Medina, how many are left?" Skylar asked, sighing in her chair but still reading the file for the next meeting.

"Two meetings, not including the SaiRus Corps," Medina replied, double-checking the schedule.

"Have you told Fred to adjust our meeting?" She wondered, stopping from checking the file.

"Yes, he agreed to your last meeting for the entire day." She answered, making Skylar nod.

"Good, let's end this business meeting." She said, cracking her fingers before waving her hand, "Let them in."

Skylar's meeting ended smoothly, but something else was hitting her from the inside. Her head was aching, bearable but annoying. She hissed from time to time after the meeting and commanded Medina to get her some painkillers at their company clinic. As she was alone in the seminar room, she tried to calm her annoying headache, but it was not working. She groaned, clenching her fists, trying to ease the pain with a strong will, but not helping either. She clicked her tongue until she felt her right eye burn, making her see some wandering souls mobbing her already. She flinched, almost falling off the chair, but luckily, she didn't; instead, she sighed.

"Would you mind making some space to make me breathe. You're all too close." She sighed heavily, demanding space which the wandering souls obeyed without hesitation. She sighed, thanking them for their consideration, "Thank you."

Even in work time, she have done her task as the Souls' Mutualist, and helped the wandering souls to have for another chance in life. But of course, not all of them were given the opportunity because Rose, being the Death's Immortal General, has a job in collecting debts from some of them.

"Seriously, even in daylight." Skylar groaned after dealing with all of the wandering souls in the room, slumping her head on the desk.

'Well, that's your fate as the Souls' Mutualist.'

"But can they just appear during nighttime - it's my hunting time." She sighed, reasoning.

'Hm, I'm not sure if you can, but I think you can tell them.'

"Possible, but would they listen?" She wondered after considering the suggestion, making Rose laugh.

'That's the question, isn't it? Anyway, my advice is to try to control them. I mean, not literally them, but try to control your power. Like turn it on only at night or activate it anytime if there's some kind of emergency with them.'

"Like an alarm?" she asked thoughtfully.

'Yes, you can set it like that if you can.'

"Hm, never thought of it, but I'll give it a try." She agreed to the suggestion when her head ached again, making her groan, sighing, "But maybe later, my head still spinning."

'Hm, have you checked the doctor?'

"Yeah, I did." She replied, still slouching on the desk.

'What did he say?'

"Oh shit." She exclaimed, but too weak to move, before sighing heavily from what she recalled, "I shouldn't have overworked or stressed myself."

'Maybe that's why. Take some rest, Vince is coming.'

Skylar straightened up after hearing her reminder before gathering the files and heading back to her office, pretending nothing was bothering her. As soon as she arrived, Vincencio met her halfway, and both of them got inside her office. She sighed, dropping her work at her desk before snuggling herself into Vincencio's arms. Vincencio chuckled, but he knew it already - Skylar almost skipped her lunch, again.

"Like I thought you'll be drowning yourself with workload again." Vincencio teased softly, as he hugged her back before pulling away, reminding her, "Don't overwork, we just finished dealing with supernatural things. We don't want you collapsing out of the blue."

"Fair reason." She agreed, giggling softly before asking, "So what did you bring this time?"

"Hm, your favorite English breakfast because you barely eat earlier, and coffee." He replied, showing the home-cooked meal to his wife.

"That's sweet, and I'm starving." She said, kissing his cheek, and took a big bite. She was enjoying it, but after five big spoons, there it goes again. She panicked, thinking, "No, no, not again, please. Not in front of him."

"Are you okay?" Vincencio asked, noticing her sudden pause, and before she could even answer, she quickly stood up and ran to her office bathroom.
