Chapter 59 - A Trap?

All the Krell scouts carried bows.

The soldiers held halberds and spears.

Ben split them into two squads.

One squad would follow him.

The other would move in the direction the ravager had fled.

He needed to find the ravagers' lair.

Once he knew where it was, he could plan a proper raid.

This scouting mission was not meant for full combat.

Their goal was simple: gather information, confirm locations, and avoid any fight that was not necessary.

With that decided, he moved toward the strange plant, taking careful steps.

He sent two scouts ahead.

They kept their distance and watched for ambushes.

The other two stayed close to him, bows ready to fire at any moment.

As he advanced, he saw something unusual.

A small hut lay in ruins among the fungal overgrowth.

It was half-buried in damp earth, barely holding together.

Most of the wood had rotted away.

Only splintered beams, cracked stone, and the faint outline of a doorway remained.

Ben frowned.
