Nova knew deep down, one more undone would not be enough; he needed to get something more, just one more practice even if it would hurt him, he at least had to try to see what more he could gain.
He sighed before glancing at Levan, who nodded, then he cast one last look at the sleeping figure on the bed. The faint glow of her mark had faded, but her breathing was steady. He reached for the blanket and drew it higher over her shoulders, his hand lingering for only a moment before pulling back.
The undead construct stood by the door, its hollow eyes burning faintly. Its presence filled the room like a sentinel carved of bone and flame.
"I will not be long, make sure you guard her. If you fail, I will send you back to the land of the dead," Nova murmured. The creature straightened, head tilting as though it understood. "If anything crosses this threshold, you do not hesitate."
