Chapter 673 - Learning to Let Things Continue

Kael discovered that agreeing to rest and actually managing to do it were two very different things.

Sylphie realized this before they had even made it halfway down the corridor connecting the Courtyard of Statues to the residential wing of the mansion. He was walking slowly, not because of his ankle, although there was still enough stiffness to subtly alter the way he placed his right foot, but because he kept looking back whenever a sound came from the courtyard. The third time he did it, Sylphie grabbed his face with one hand and forced him to look forward.

"Amelia knows where your room is."

"That's reassuring for strange reasons."

"If something happens, she'll find you."

"I know."

"Then stop acting as if she's going to forget you exist during the next twenty meters."

Umbra appeared on the wall ahead of them, walking horizontally across the stone as though that were a perfectly normal way to move around.

"I can report it if he tries to go back."

Kael looked at her.
