Chapter 54 - Kingslanding Side Quest 3

"Khal Aegon, the new spies have departed. They will leave on the coming day, after all the spies of the first batch have left." Baqo says, looking at Aegon's back.

"Good, you and Rahko set off. Remember the illusion I used you won't expand to another, so if things work out and you have to save the girls, go for the quick exit, even if it's loud."

" If things come to that, our escape plan will be different from if you don't save them; the guard will most definitely be alerted, so head for the city gates at the first notice of noise. I'll summon the dragons."

"We understand." They answered as they jumped from the roof and disappeared into the night, heading for the Red Keep.

"Now then, I'm all alone, it's time for our reunion, Uncle. I can't lie, I hope he takes the deal, it would lessen my enemies."

Aegon jumped from the roof and took his time walking towards the Red Keep. The dirty streets of Kingslanding were empty.

It didn't take long for Aegon to reach the castle gates, walk past the guard stationed there, and enter the keep, and then he encountered his first problem.

'I have no idea how to get to the black cells.' Aegon thought to himself.

He had seen the keep many times in the show, but that didn't mean he knew its layout. He knew that both Rahko and Baqo would likely encounter the same situation, not knowing where Sansa and Arya were.

To the problem, they had the same solution: just torture it out of someone, then hide the body, making sure no one notices.

As he walked through the hall, a sense of familiarity emerged from his blood, the place where the Targaryen family had ruled for hundreds of years.

He wasn't surprised by the growing feeling; if anything, he would have been surprised if he felt nothing.

Soon, his chance to get the information he wanted came. Turning a corner, he saw a knight, armored in half plate, with a sword at his waist and a lantern swinging in his hand as he walked.

Aegon stopped.

He watched as the knight approached him, not knowing he was basically walking into death's arms.

Then, as the knight walked past him. Aegon struck with great precision; his hand shot out, his fingers clamped tightly around the knight's throat, cutting off any attempt at a cry for help.

Bam!!

The lantern dropped, the hallway now almost as dark as the night sky.

But Aegon's action didn't stop. With his free hand, he drew a dagger and pressed it through a space in the knight's armor, reaching his bear skin as the tip of the dagger pressed against him, drawing a single line of bright red blood.

In a display of courage or absolute foolishness, the knight tried to reach for his sword, but Aegon simply pushed him heavily into the wall.

Bam!!!

The knight's head bounced off the wall, and the cry that threatened to escape was quickly stopped as Aegon's fingers around his throat tightened.

"Shhh." Aegon whispered, still under the veil of illusion, the knight's expression sank even more, seeing no one in front of him, but the voice, dagger to his side, and hand around his throat made it clear someone was indeed present.

"I have one question for you, how do I get to the black cells?"

The knight trembled, sweat dripping from his face as he sank deeper into fear.

Noticing this, Aegon pulled back his dagger and carried his hand to the knight's face, with a single thought, a small flame appeared as Aegon pressed it gently on the knight's face.

"How do I get to the black cells?" Aegon asked once again.

"Ah!" The cry that almost started from the burning pain was once again cut short.

The knight's eyes widened in terror, but it seemed to work as he began talking.

"B...Beneath the keep, down the winding stairs past the dungeons. I.....it's guarded.... heavily guarded."

"See, that wasn't that hard." Aegon says.

"You helped me a lot, it's a shame I can't let you go." Aegon whispered as he pulled his hand from the knight's throat and replaced it with a burning hot dagger, straight through his neck, killing him instantly and burning the wound closed to prevent any spilled blood.

The body fell limp. With a thought, Aegon extended the illusion, making the knight disappear.

Aegon lifted the dead man and put him on his shoulders and continued on his way.

Aegon followed the direction the knight gave him, and soon he was descending stairs as the air got colder and colder.

As he entered the lower dungeons, he could hear the clinking of chains and the muttering of guards.

He set the dead knight down in an out-of-the-way corner and advanced. Four guards were blocking the way forward to the black cells.

Seeing this, Aegon smiled.

The Red Keep was still, but great works were being done. Baqo moved like a predator, still under the effect of the illusion, but now his hand had a drop of blood on it.

He crossed a garden and looked at the open window above him.

"Sansa Stark should be in that room, if the word of that knight is to be believed." he muttered.

"It isn't that high." he said as he jumped with a grace a savage should not have, managing to land quietly on the window as he spilled into the dark room and approached the bed.

He looked at the sleeping girl who matched the description Aegon gave him and stood watching her, waiting for his Khal's signal.

Rahko was no less efficient as he now stood over his target, watching her sleep, waiting for a signal that could change the sleeping girl's life forever.

He looked at her and stepped back, going to the window, as the moonlight shone on him, revealing the blood splatter on him.

Confrontation and choice next chapter........maybe.
