Chapter 181 - Ch 181 : Mastermind

Byakugan can evolve?

Tobirama looked surprised—this was the first time he had ever heard of such a thing.

And judging by what Makoto had just said, it seemed that he knew quite a lot about the Sharingan, including the abilities of the Mangekyo Sharingan.

In his time, no one had awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan…

Tobirama's mind raced, and the image of Uchiha Fugaku flashed in his mind.

He asked, "Byakugan evolving... Where did you learn about this?"

Makoto replied, "It's from my own family's Kekkei genkai. Is it so strange that I know about it?"

Tobirama paused, contemplating.

Having served as Hokage for decades, he was familiar with every clan's secret techniques and Kekkei genkai in the village.

The Byakugan evolving... There had never been any record of such an occurrence.

Or perhaps, it was something that existed in the history before Konoha, only recorded in the ancient texts of the Hyuga clan.

"Could you explain more about the Byakugan evolution?" Tobirama asked.

Makoto shook his head. "I'm not very clear on it either. I only found a few words about it in the clan's ancient books. I don't know anything about how it evolves or its powers."

Tobirama felt a headache coming on.

He had previously researched the Sharingan, and he knew well how its evolution worked, but that wasn't something one could simply learn through research.

How was he supposed to begin such a study?

How could he proceed with so little knowledge?

From what was shown in the original work, the Tenseigan wasn't just an eye that appeared in a person's eyes—it was also a weapon of war.

The Otsutsuki clan on the moon had used the power of the Tenseigan during their internal conflict.

A large number of Byakugan, a high purity of bloodline, and the chakra of the Otsutsuki clan—all of these were indispensable.

The key point lay in the chakra of the Otsutsuki clan.

Where could such a thing be obtained?

Apart from Rikudo Sennin, who was in an unknown state of being, the only other source would be the Otsutsuki clan on the moon.

Researching the Tenseigan had to start from scratch.

Unlike the Rinnegan, whose evolution method was clear, Makoto could only hope Tobirama might figure something out.

However, Tobirama wasn't particularly interested in something with such a low probability of success.

He was only focused on researching the body and soul to find a way to revive himself.

Makoto saw through his intentions and said, "I remember our Hyuga clan's ancient texts seem to record a method to truly bring the dead back to life."

Tobirama's eyes lit up with sudden excitement. "Are you serious?"

Makoto replied calmly, "I'm not entirely sure. I need to go back and check again. For now, I'll leave the matter of the Byakugan to you."

"...I understand. I'll do my best."

Uncertain whether Makoto was deceiving him, Tobirama could only respond that way.

"If you have any requests, just let me know. You can also command the Anbu stationed outside as you see fit."

After speaking, Makoto left the research lab.

The so-called method of resurrection was simply the power of the Rinnegan.

It was hard to say how Tobirama would react if he discovered the truth and targeted Nagato.

And Nagato's Rinnegan...

If Makoto were to seize it, who knew how Black Zetsu would react in the shadows.

Black Zetsu... Was there a way to lure him out?

The eye replacement surgery for Kakashi and Obito was scheduled to take place soon, and Makoto was surprised to learn that it had been arranged by the Uchiha clan.

At that moment, Mikoto suddenly approached him, requesting permission to take Kushina out of the village to visit a neighboring country.

Her reason was that Kushina had been in low spirits, and she mentioned that the idea had come from Ayari.

Since Kushina was a Jinchuriki, she needed the Hokage's approval to leave the village.

Kushina in low spirits? She seemed quite happy whenever she was with him.

After some thought, Makoto suddenly asked, "Do you know that your clan's Obito is about to have an eye replacement?"

The abrupt change in topic caught Mikoto off guard. "Ah, yes, I know. Didn't you already approve it?"

Makoto said, "They have their own ideas, so it's not my place to interfere."

Mikoto agreed, "After all, Kakashi and Obito aren't kids anymore."

Makoto added, "You and Kushina want to go out and relax—no problem. How long are you planning to be gone? A week?"

"About that. We're just going to visit a neighboring country."

Makoto immediately signed the authorization for leaving the village and handed it to Mikoto.

With a bright smile, Mikoto said, "Thank you, Lord Hokage."

Makoto casually remarked, "Just a verbal thank-you?"

What else do you want?

Sensing the playful tone in his words, Mikoto thought to herself that he seemed to joke around with everyone.

Without any intention to banter with him, she simply said, "Then I'll thank you on behalf of Kushina too."

Makoto watched the graceful woman as she left, thinking to himself—such a stunning figure, I wonder what she'd look like in black stockings...

With that thought lingering, he reached over and touched Samui's black garter stockings.

Samui cooperatively leaned closer to him. "Lord Hokage, would you like to join us for lunch? Mabui has prepared a lot of dishes... and after eating, you can rest there for a while."

"Oh? What kind of dishes did she prepare?" Makoto asked with a smile, not withdrawing his hand.

Samui leaned close to Makoto's ear, her red lips parting slightly as she whispered, "Mabui just bought a new maid outfit… she wants to know if you think it's worth the investment."

"What about Yugito?" Makoto asked.

"Yugito…" Samui's expression turned awkward.

"She didn't prepare anything?" Makoto pressed.

"…"

Makoto then said, "Let me know when she has something ready, and I'll come by."

Samui pursed her lips. "…Understood."

Yugito, huh…

Samui sighed inwardly, feeling it was a bit troublesome.

Makoto then summoned an Anbu member to call Obito over.

Obito was puzzled as to why the Hokage wanted to see him.

Upon arrival, he heard Makoto ask, "Do you need me to arrange a doctor for your eye exchange surgery with Kakashi?"

Obito hurriedly replied, "No need, Lord Hokage. The clan leader has already arranged everything for us."

Makoto remarked, "Your clan leader seems quite attentive."

Obito chuckled sheepishly. "The clan leader cares about me."

Makoto nodded. "Then there's no need for me to worry about it. How's your Wood Release training going? If you have any questions, feel free to consult the Second Hokage. He's the First Hokage's brother and should have some insights into Wood Release."

"I understand. Thank you, Lord Hokage."

After a few more casual remarks, Obito bowed and took his leave.

Makoto's eyes showed a thoughtful expression as he watched him go.

There was no doubt that someone was orchestrating this eye exchange from behind the scenes—none other than Uchiha Fugaku.

But why he really so fixated on a Sharingan that had ended up outside the clan?

It was just an ordinary Sharingan, nothing like a Mangekyo.

In the original story, he wasn't this persistent either.

Could it be that he knew the secret of Kamui as well? That didn't make sense...

Makoto couldn't quite figure it out.
