Chapter 184 - Ch 184 : The Dawn of a New Beginning

The Land of Rain, Amegakure.

The leader of Amegakure, Yahiko, was frowning as he looked at the documents on the desk in front of him.

He sighed helplessly. "Still this many?"

These were all applications submitted by the village's ninjas.

Nagato, standing beside him, said, "The ninjas in the village all want to join Akatsuki now."

Yahiko pondered, "If everyone in the village joins Akatsuki, then what is the meaning of Akatsuki's existence?"

He casually opened one of the applications but remained unmoved by its contents.

If this had happened before they took over Amegakure, he would have been delighted to see so many people wanting to join Akatsuki.

Nagato, however, was puzzled. "Isn't it a good thing if everyone joins Akatsuki? That way, Amegakure will be even more stable under our control."

Yahiko could only smile bitterly in silence.

If he raised the requirements for joining Akatsuki, people would only try harder to squeeze their way into the organization.

In that case, Akatsuki's status in the village would rise invisibly, surpassing all other departments.

Such a situation would be difficult, if not impossible, to stop.

But if he really allowed everyone to join Akatsuki...

Would Akatsuki then become synonymous with Amegakure?

Would Amegakure become synonymous with Akatsuki?

Yahiko sat there, lost in deep thought.

"What are you thinking about?"

At that moment, Konan walked in with a gentle smile.

Yahiko shared the current situation and his concerns with her.

After thinking for a moment, Konan said, "The tricky part is that Akatsuki holds too unique a position in the village — it's become a collective."

Yahiko sighed helplessly. "We can't exactly disband it."

Akatsuki was his life's work, and its members had followed him from the very beginning.

Konan suggested, "We can define Akatsuki's role more clearly."

Yahiko was stunned, and Nagato, standing nearby, also asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"

Konan explained, "Just turn Akatsuki into a department within the village. In Konoha, the Hokage established an organization called 'Crown.' We can follow that example and make Akatsuki a department that only elite ninjas with sufficient strength can join."

Yahiko frowned. "Wouldn't that turn Akatsuki into a purely military force?"

Konan responded, "Our internal structure in Amegakure is already complete. There's no need for extra departments. Akatsuki can exist in this form as long as its members don't wield real power. Besides, our village needs this kind of strength. We can continue recruiting powerful individuals from across the ninja world into Akatsuki."

Yahiko still hesitated. "This goes against Akatsuki's original purpose. The members are our like-minded comrades."

Konan smiled. "Isn't the entire Amegakure filled with like-minded comrades now? Yahiko, are you clinging to the name of Akatsuki?"

These words seemed to strike a chord in Yahiko's heart.

He sat there, lost in thought for a long time.

After all, he was now the leader of Amegakure...

After a long while, Yahiko gathered the entire stack of letters and tossed them into the trash bin.

"You're right, Konan."

He exhaled deeply. "From now on, Akatsuki will be reorganized. The new Akatsuki will be a completely fresh start — a force that will command the fear and respect of the entire ninja world in the future!"

"Um..." Nagato suddenly hesitated.

"What is it?" Yahiko asked.

Nagato looked a bit embarrassed. "It's nothing... just that there were a few people among the applicants whom I thought highly of..."

Yahiko smiled. "Don't worry, they'll still have a chance to join Akatsuki. Everyone will have that chance. But Nagato, you're already in a high position in the village now. Be cautious in how you deal with people. You never know what's behind someone's smiling face."

Konan added, "Yahiko's right, Nagato. Don't make promises to others lightly."

Nagato, realizing he'd been seen through by both of them, grew even more awkward.

Scratching his head, he said, "Actually, there's someone I really want to introduce to you."

"His name is Hakuryu, a wandering ninja. I've interacted with him for a while. He's strong and has good character. I think we could recruit him into Akatsuki."

.........

Konoha Hospital.

Rin had been waiting outside the operating room for a long time before the doctor finally emerged.

"Everything's fine now. A few days of rest, and they'll recover completely."

Rin hurried inside, where Kakashi and Obito lay on two separate operating tables, each with one eye wrapped in bandages.

"Rin." Obito smiled as soon as he saw her walk in.

Kakashi, lying there, felt as though he'd been reborn.

A weight that had been pressing on him for a long time was finally lifted.

Obito, however, had a mix of emotions.

He had finally reclaimed his Sharingan, but how did his friend really feel about returning the eye he had once given him?

Rin couldn't help but say, "You two... How could you suddenly do something like this without informing me beforehand? I only found out when the surgery was already underway."

Obito scratched his head. "It wasn't that big of a deal, right?"

"How is it not a big deal..." Rin wanted to say more but didn't know how to express it.

She understood the significance of that eye and knew how Kakashi had been mentally affected during the time when they all thought Obito was dead.

"Rin," Kakashi interrupted her, his voice calm.

He looked at Obito, remained silent for a moment, and then said, "Obito, there are some things I feel I should say."

"What things?"

Both Obito and Rin turned their attention to him.

"Obito, this Sharingan is an incredibly important treasure to me. It represents a friend's trust and final wishes. I always thought I would use this eye to see the world on your behalf and borrow your strength to protect the village... and Rin."

"That's what I always believed..."

"Obito, you're the one who woke me up from that mindset, and I'm really grateful to you."

Obito was stunned for a moment, then muttered softly, "You idiot, why are you suddenly getting all serious and sentimental..."

"When you returned to the village, I thought about giving this eye back to you. After all, I'm not a Uchiha, and I can't fully unlock its power. But I was worried you'd misunderstand, so I kept hesitating..."

Obito suddenly interrupted him, "Kakashi!"

"..."

He grinned. "I never thought you'd be even more sentimental than I imagined."

Kakashi let out a laugh. "Honestly, now that this Sharingan has returned to its rightful owner, I feel much lighter, like I no longer have to bear any burdens."

Obito laughed and teased, "Of course you don't have to bear anything — I'm not dead, after all."

This eye had once symbolized their friendship, a bond that had grown heavy through life and death, making them tread cautiously around it.

But their bond wasn't confined to that eye — it was rooted deep in their hearts.

Rin chuckled and broke the moment. "Alright, it's lunchtime. Do you two want hospital meals, or are you coming with me to eat outside?"

Since it was only an eye surgery, the village's advanced medical care ensured there were no major physical effects.

"Of course we're eating out!" Obito immediately declared.

Rin added, "But don't expect anything fancy. You just had surgery — something light, okay?"

Kakashi suggested, "Ichiraku Ramen?"

.......

After parting ways with Kakashi and Rin, Obito didn't immediately return home.

Instead, he went to see the clan leader.

He wanted to inform Fugaku about the success of his eye transplant surgery.

"Is there any discomfort with your eyes?" Fugaku asked.

Obito shook his head. "No, they already feel functional. The doctor said there will be follow-ups, and I'll need to keep the bandages on for a while before they can be removed."

Fugaku nodded. "Follow the doctor's advice to avoid any hidden complications. Once the bandages are removed, your Sharingan will probably need some time to adapt. The two eyes were trained differently on separate hosts, after all."

"I understand, Lord Fugaku."

"Go back and get plenty of rest for now."

After Obito left, Fugaku began plotting Obito's Mangekyo Sharingan awakening plan.

To awaken the Mangekyo, one had to endure immense emotional trauma.

The most effective trigger was witnessing the death of someone dear.

Obito had two closest companions: Hatake Kakashi and Nohara Rin.

Kakashi was now one of the Hokage's personal guards, a member of the elite Crown Guard.

If he were to die, the Hokage would certainly launch a full investigation.

Besides, Kakashi was no pushover.

It was rumored that he had recently killed nearly thirty Iwa-nin by himself — a feat that made him stand out even among the elite Jonin.

That left Nohara Rin as the most suitable candidate.

A rather ordinary Chunin, once protected by the "Yellow Flash" as his student, but now that the Yellow Flash was a prisoner, there was no one left to shield her.

With proper planning, if Rin were to die on a mission alongside Obito, the incident wouldn't cause much of a stir.

The Hokage likely wouldn't even bother to inquire.
