"My mother once told me," Shirahoshi said softly, gazing up at the massive ark, "that this ship was built so the people of Fish-Man Island could one day immigrate to the surface world. It has so many rooms… maybe Husband could use it as a home for people to live in."

Her idea was simple—pure, even. But there was wisdom in her innocence.

Hmm… not a bad thought, James mused. If I can't find another use for it, perhaps my future subordinates could live here.

Setting those thoughts aside, James activated his Observation Haki. Instantly, he sensed the faint presences of the Flying Pirates hidden within Noah.

With a calm breath, he unleashed his Conqueror's Haki.

A silent wave of dominance rippled outward. Within moments, every pirate aboard Noah—including Vander Decken himself—collapsed, unconscious before they could even comprehend the overwhelming pressure.

James didn't bother entering the ark. "Too troublesome," he muttered.

With a simple gesture, he opened a spatial rift using his Door-Door Power.

From within, arcs of raging lightning burst forth, dancing wildly through the corridors of Noah.

The paralyzing current gave the unconscious pirates no chance to awaken—they slipped quietly into eternal hell.

When the storm ended, James reached into the void and drew out a single fruit—the Target-Target Devil Fruit, freshly stripped from Vander Decken's corpse.

The fruit pulsed faintly with power before he sealed it away in storage.

Just like that, Shirahoshi's tormentor had been erased from existence.

She had never even laid eyes on her enemy—yet she had already won.

The Target-Target Fruit, in truth, was not a weak ability—but its flaws made it nearly useless to James.

The user could mark anyone they touched as a target. Any object thrown by the corresponding hand would home in relentlessly on that mark. However, only two marks could exist at once—one per hand—and the marks vanished the moment the user washed their hands or touched someone else.

Even worse, the projectiles could be deflected mid-flight. The power was clever, but fragile.

For someone like James, who could strike across kilometers using Observation Haki and lightning, such an ability was redundant—a toy compared to divine power.

When his thoughts settled, James guided Shirahoshi to the bow of Noah. His Float-Float Power extended, enveloping the entire ark. Slowly, the colossal ship began to rise, parting the waters around it as it floated majestically under his control.

"Shirahoshi," he called, his tone thoughtful, "can you feel the power inside you?"

She blinked in confusion. "Eh? Inside me?"

Closing her eyes, she tried to focus. Her brows furrowed as she searched within herself for something—anything. Finally, she opened her eyes again, disappointment flickering across her face.

"I… don't feel anything. Husband-sama, am I… useless?"

James chuckled softly, shaking his head. "How could you be useless? You're more special than you realize. It's just that right now, I'm not strong enough to draw out that power yet. Don't worry—your strength will awaken in time. There's no need to rush."

His gentle reassurance melted the worry from her face. Shirahoshi smiled faintly and leaned closer, resting her cheek beside him.

She didn't even notice that Noah was still ascending, carried effortlessly by James's power.

If she can't summon them yet, James thought, perhaps I can try commanding them myself.

His gaze sharpened. He focused his will and made Noah circle Fish-Man Island, searching the surrounding sea for traces of Sea Kings. But there were none.

So even they won't approach this place… perhaps the aura of the ancient Sea King here scares them away.

He sighed. I'll have to take her to the Calm Belt later. There, they'll come without hesitation.

Then, another idea struck him.

Wait… could I use my White Lightning to extract the power of Poseidon from her?

His eyes glimmered at the thought, and he turned to Shirahoshi, studying her closely. His intense stare made her blush instantly.

"H-Husband-sama?" she stammered, flustered under his gaze.

"Shirahoshi," he said calmly, "give me your hand."

"Ah? Oh—yes, Husband-sama!" She immediately extended one delicate hand toward him, then hesitated and offered both, unsure which one he meant.

James smiled faintly and took her hand in his. A soft current of White Lightning coursed through his palm, threading into her body like a gentle scan.

He closed his eyes, focusing deeply—but there was nothing. The divine resonance he sought eluded him completely.

Shirahoshi tilted her head, her voice small and curious. "Husband~ Did you find anything?"

James opened his eyes and sighed softly, shaking his head. "No… it seems Poseidon's power can't be accessed this way. Not yet, at least."

Meanwhile — Fish-Man Island, Ryugu Kingdom

Far below, the palace was abuzz with tension.

Jinbe had finally returned to Fish-Man Island. For years, he had moved quietly in service to Whitebeard, ever loyal to the man who had once declared,

"Fish-Man Island is my territory."

That single proclamation had shielded them from countless threats. Few dared challenge Whitebeard's name.

At this time, Jinbe had not yet renounced his position as a Warlord of the Sea, and most of the Sun Pirates still used Fish-Man Island as their base. Accompanying him today was Namur, commander of the Whitebeard Pirates' Eighth Division—a shark Fish-Man who resembled Jinbe in both appearance and presence.

Upon his return, the palace guards greeted Jinbe with deep respect. Yet whispers followed him everywhere—rumors of a new power rising from above.

After some discreet inquiries, Jinbe finally received confirmation from the Left Minister.

Fish-Man Island… was preparing to submit to the rule of the Divine Lightning Emperor, James.

Jinbe's eyes widened in disbelief. "To submit… to him?"

He was both shocked and uneasy. He knew little about James—only fragments of rumor and stories carried by travelers.

Unable to rest, Jinbe went straight to the palace to confront King Neptune. Namur followed close behind, his expression dark with anger barely held in check.

The moment Neptune saw Namur, his heart sank. This is bad.

Still, he had no choice but to explain, choosing his words carefully to avoid provoking either side.

"I see…" Jinbe finally said after hearing the full account. "This old man understands Your Majesty's intentions."

He couldn't oppose Neptune's reasoning—but unease gnawed at him. After all, Whitebeard's banner had protected their peace for years. To shift allegiance so suddenly…

Before he could voice his thoughts, Namur slammed a fist into his palm. "How can you accept this, Boss Jinbe!? Fish-Man Island is still Pops' territory! That upstart's actions—doesn't he know he's spitting in Whitebeard's face?"

Neptune winced inwardly. As expected… trouble.

Jinbe fell silent, his expression solemn. Namur's words weren't wrong. Finally, he exhaled heavily and said, "Then let this old man meet him first. If this James truly has the strength and heart to lead Fish-Man Island—and he rules without tyranny—I will speak to Pops myself and explain everything. But if not… I will stop him, even if it costs me."

Namur snorted. "Hmph. Do what you want, Jinbe. But I don't care what kind of man he is. If he dared provoke Whitebeard's name… he's already crossed the line."

Neptune tried to calm them, raising a hand. "Gentlemen, please. There's no need for conflict—"

But Namur cut him off sharply. "Enough. Your Majesty's words won't change anything. Just give us the brat's contact number. I want to see him for myself."

The room fell into tense silence.

Neptune's tail twitched uneasily. The storm hasn't even begun… and already, the currents are shifting.
