Chapter 7 - Fight

The volcanic air at the peak of Sovereign Mountain didn't just smell like sulfur; it tasted like boiling copper.

Nexar stood on the edge of the jagged caldera, his bare chest glistening with sweat that evaporated before it could drop. Down in the pit of molten rock, the island's true owner was waiting.

It wasn't a mindlessly lumbering beast. The Apex Calamity was a sleek, eight-foot-tall humanoid monstrosity carved from obsidian-like bone, its four arms ending in curved, razor-sharp scythe-blades. Crimson mana rolled off its body in thick, suffocating waves, hot enough to melt solid stone into slag.

For fifteen years, this thing's raw presence had kept the cosmic portal sealed deep within the volcanic bedrock. To open a doorway back to the human world, Nexar didn't just need to kill it—he needed to harvest its core as a sacrifice to jumpstart the rift.

The Calamity's crimson eyes locked onto Nexar. With a sound like a cracking whip, the air shattered.

BOOM.

The monster didn't run—it broke the sound barrier, appearing instantly in front of Nexar with four obsidian blades whistling toward his head, neck, and ribs in an inescapable cross-slash.

In the past, Nexar's instincts would have panicked. He would have thrown himself into the dirt, praying his leather armor held.

Instead, he activated the synergy.

Thump.

Between his brows, the Third Eye Chakra flared violet, slowing the world down to a crawl. The monster's blistering attack broke apart into glowing lines of kinetic trajectory. Simultaneously, deep in his chest, the Manipura Chakra roared to life. Golden heat flooded his veins, instantly hardening his skin, muscle, and bone into an immovable anchor.

Nexar didn't dodge. He stepped into the strike.

CLANG-THUD!

The two upper blades slammed directly into Nexar's bare left forearm. The impact sent a shockwave blasting across the crater, pulverizing the stone beneath his boots—but his arm didn't snap. The Manipura Chakra absorbed the kinetic energy, converting the monster's own godlike force straight into Nexar's physical stamina.

The Calamity's crimson eyes widened in a split second of genuine shock.

"My turn," Nexar growled.

Combining the Third Eye's structural vision with Manipura's explosive power, Nexar drove a golden, compressed fist straight into the monster's lower jaw.

CRACK!

The impact sounded like a cannon going off in a small room. Black blood and fragments of obsidian bone sprayed into the air as the eight-foot monster was launched upward, tumbling violently through the volcanic ash.

Nexar didn't give it a chance to breathe. He leaped after it, propelled by a burst of golden kinetic force.

What followed wasn't a clean, cinematic duel. It was a brutal, ground-and-pound slaughter.

The Calamity fought like a cornered demon, spinning mid-air to rake its lower scythes across Nexar's chest. The blades tore through skin, drawing hot, crimson blood—pain flared, sharp and grounding—but Nexar didn't flinch. He grabbed the monster's upper right arm with his bare hand, planted his foot onto its ribs, and pulled.

With a sickening, wet tear of muscle and bone, Nexar ripped the arm clean off.

The beast shrieked—a high-pitched, metallic howl that rattled the caldera—and blasted a concentrated beam of raw crimson mana point-blank into Nexar's face.

The heat burned his eyebrows and charred his leather coat, but Nexar channeled the Third Eye to slice through the spell's energy flow, while Manipura absorbed the thermal shock. He drove his forehead straight down into the monster's face-plate in a brutal headbutt.

BANG!

They hit the molten floor of the crater together, kicking up a geyser of lava.

Drenched in blood—both his own and the monster's black slime—Nexar pinned the thrashing Calamity into the rock. The beast whipped its tail, piercing Nexar's left shoulder, but Nexar just gritted his teeth, grabbed the monster's throat with his left hand, and raised his right fist.

Golden solar energy and violet cosmic perception merged around his knuckles, spiraling into a terrifying, singular point of pure destructive force.

"You kept me locked on this rock for fifteen years," Nexar panted, his breath ragged, blood dripping from his chin onto the creature's shattered face. "Thanks for the fuel."

He drove his fist down.

BOOM!

The final strike crushed the Calamity's chest cavity, shattering its spine and driving the shockwave deep into the volcano's roots. The monster twitched once, its crimson eyes fading into dull gray stone, before its body began to dissolve into a boiling, liquid core of pure, concentrated energy.

Nexar stood up, chest heaving, wiping the black blood from his eyes. His body ached, his skin was burned, and blood trickled from three deep gashes on his ribs—but he felt alive. Stronger than anything this island had ever produced.

He reached down into the chest of the dead Apex, wrapping his hand around the glowing, pulsing monster core.

He dragged the core toward the ancient stone archway sitting at the center of the volcanic pit—the dormant cosmic portal.

Nexar slammed the Calamity's core directly into the altar's central socket.

RUMBLE!

The ground shook violently as the dormant spatial rift drank the monster's energy greedily. The stone arch flared, torn open by a roaring, galaxy-colored vacuum of stars and swirling nebulae—the exact same portal that had swallowed him twenty years ago.

Nexar pulled his torn hoodie over his blood-stained shoulders. He didn't look back at the emerald jungle, the dragon lake, or the mountain peak.

He stepped directly into the cosmic tear, letting the starlight swallow him whole.

"Ready or not, Earth," Nexar whispered into the void. "The kid's back."The air at the peak of Sovereign Mountain tasted like boiling copper.

Sulfur filled Nexar's lungs with every breath. The heat was so intense that the sweat on his skin vanished almost instantly.

He stood at the edge of a jagged volcanic caldera, staring down into the molten depths below.

Something was waiting there.

For fifteen years, Nexar had known that something ruled this mountain.

The beasts of Sector 0 avoided this place.

Even the strongest creatures never came near the peak.

Now Nexar understood why.

A figure stood within the crater.

It was not a mindless beast.

It stood nearly eight feet tall, its body covered in black, obsidian-like bone. Four powerful arms extended from its torso, each ending in a curved scythe-like blade.

Crimson energy rolled from its body in thick waves.

The surrounding stone slowly melted beneath its feet.

Nexar stared at it.

The Apex Calamity.

For fifteen years, its presence had remained connected to the strange energy beneath the mountain.

And deep beneath that volcanic bedrock—

was the portal.

The same portal that had brought Nexar to this island.

If he wanted to return to Earth, killing the creature wouldn't be enough.

He needed its core.

The Apex Calamity slowly raised its head.

Four crimson eyes locked onto Nexar.

For a moment, neither moved.

Then—

BOOM!

The air exploded.

The creature disappeared.

Nexar's eyes widened.

It had crossed the distance between them almost instantly.

Four blades came toward him at once.

One toward his head.

One toward his neck.

Two toward his ribs.

There was nowhere to escape.

But Nexar didn't panic.

Not anymore.

His Third Eye Chakra awakened.

A violet glow appeared between his eyebrows.

The world slowed.

The Calamity's movements became clearer.

Every blade.

Every shift of muscle.

Every change in its balance.

Nexar could see the attack before it reached him.

At the same time, the Manipura Chakra inside his chest responded.

Golden energy spread through his body.

His muscles tightened.

His bones strengthened.

His entire body became stable.

Nexar stepped forward.

He didn't dodge.

CLANG!

The first two blades struck his left forearm.

A shockwave exploded across the crater.

Stone shattered beneath his feet.

Nexar's arm shook from the impact.

But it didn't break.

The Calamity froze for the briefest moment.

Its crimson eyes widened.

Nexar looked at it.

"My turn."

His Third Eye revealed the structure of its movement.

His Manipura Chakra supplied the force.

Nexar twisted his body and drove his fist upward.

BOOM!

His fist struck the creature beneath the jaw.

The impact echoed through the mountain.

Black blood burst from its mouth as its body was launched into the air.

Nexar didn't wait.

He jumped after it.

The battle left the crater.

The Calamity twisted in mid-air and swung its blades toward him.

Nexar moved between them.

One strike.

Dodge.

Another strike.

Counter.

The creature was faster than anything Nexar had fought before.

But Nexar could read its movements.

For fifteen years, survival had taught him patience.

The Third Eye turned that patience into something more dangerous.

He wasn't simply reacting anymore.

He was predicting.

The Calamity suddenly twisted its body and slashed across Nexar's chest.

The blade connected.

Blood appeared across his skin.

Pain shot through him.

Nexar gritted his teeth.

Then he grabbed the creature's arm.

The Calamity struggled.

Nexar tightened his grip.

Golden energy surged through his muscles.

With one violent pull—

CRACK!

The creature's arm tore free.

The Calamity released a metallic shriek that echoed through the entire mountain.

It immediately retaliated.

Crimson energy gathered in its remaining hands.

A beam of concentrated energy erupted toward Nexar's face.

Nexar raised his Third Eye.

The energy wasn't simply light.

He could see its structure.

Its flow.

Its instability.

He moved his hand through the beam's path.

The violet energy of his Third Eye disrupted its flow.

The attack weakened.

But the heat still struck him.

His eyebrows burned.

His clothing began to char.

Nexar ignored it.

He closed the distance.

Then slammed his forehead into the creature's face.

BANG!

Both of them crashed into the volcanic floor.

A wave of molten rock erupted around them.

Nexar landed on top.

The Calamity thrashed beneath him.

Its tail suddenly struck.

The pointed end pierced Nexar's shoulder.

Blood ran down his arm.

Nexar's expression hardened.

He grabbed the creature by the throat.

"You've kept me trapped on this island for fifteen years."

Golden energy gathered around his right fist.

Violet light surrounded it.

The two energies began to overlap.

For the first time, Nexar felt something different.

The Third Eye wasn't fighting against the Manipura Chakra.

They were working together.

Perception.

Power.

Control.

All three became one.

Nexar stared into the creature's fading crimson eyes.

"Thanks for the fuel."

His fist came down.

BOOM!

The impact shook the mountain.

The Calamity's body went still.

Silence returned to the crater.

Nexar remained there for several seconds, breathing heavily.

Blood ran from the wounds across his body.

His shoulder throbbed.

His ribs burned.

But he was standing.

The Apex Calamity was dead.

Its body slowly began to dissolve.

The obsidian-like bones broke apart into black particles.

Beneath them, something remained.

A glowing crimson core.

Nexar crouched down and reached into the remains.

His fingers closed around it.

The moment he touched the core—

Thump.

Energy rushed through his hand.

Nexar's eyes narrowed.

This energy was different.

It was dense.

Wild.

Ancient.

He turned toward the center of the crater.

There, surrounded by volcanic rock, stood an ancient stone archway.

The portal.

For fifteen years, Nexar had wondered whether it still existed.

Now he finally stood before it.

He carried the core toward the structure.

At its center was a circular socket.

Nexar placed the core inside.

For a moment—

nothing happened.

Then—

RUMBLE!

The entire mountain shook.

Cracks spread across the volcanic floor.

The stone archway began to glow.

Crimson energy poured from the core into the ancient structure.

The air twisted.

Space itself began to tear apart.

Nexar stepped back.

Inside the archway, darkness appeared.

Then the darkness exploded into light.

Stars.

Nebulae.

A vast ocean of cosmic energy appeared beyond the stone frame.

Nexar stared at it.

He had seen this place before.

It was the same portal.

The same strange light.

The same impossible feeling.

The portal that had swallowed him fifteen years ago.

The portal that had brought him to Sector 0.

His way home.

Nexar looked back.

The emerald forest stretched beneath the mountain.

For fifteen years, it had been his prison.

But it had also been his teacher.

The forests had taught him patience.

The beasts had taught him fear.

The island had taught him survival.

And the shrine had given him power.

Nexar pulled his torn hood over his head.

He didn't say goodbye.

There was no need.

He turned toward the portal.

Then stepped forward.

The moment his body entered the cosmic tear, the world disappeared.

For a brief instant, Nexar felt weightless.

No ground.

No sky.

No sound.

Only endless stars.

He looked into the darkness ahead.

Somewhere beyond it was Earth.

Somewhere beyond it was the life he had lost.

Nexar's eyes narrowed.

"Ready or not..."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Earth, I'm coming home."

The cosmic light swallowed him.

Behind him, Sovereign Mountain fell silent once more.

The portal remained open for only a few seconds.

Then—

it closed.

And for the first time in fifteen years,

Nexar Luke was no longer trapped on Sector 0.
