Spencer gave a soft, almost amused laugh.
"I am destined to protect you in every lifetime."
Then he walked away.
Aurora watched him leave, unable to stop herself from sulking.
Left alone, she began searching for a place to live. She had no intention of returning to her stepmother and father.
Yet before she could find anything, Spencer had already arranged everything for her.
She ended up living somewhere safe.
Comfortable.
But never truly at peace.
She knew her biological father was hunting for her, that danger followed closely behind. So she kept running, kept hiding, kept surviving.
The dream shifted rapidly.
She saw herself struggling to learn languages, memorizing unfamiliar alphabets late into the night.
She saw endless hours spent mastering hacking skills, teaching herself because there was no one else to rely on.
There were also blurred fragments she could not fully recall, shadows of memories just out of reach.
