Hidden Love in the Spotlight
—Weeks after the end of The Untamed—
The release of The Untamed brought Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo unprecedented attention. Their schedules became increasingly hectic, filled with interviews, advertisements, and public appearances. With their growing popularity came greater scrutiny, making even the smallest interaction something people could analyze and speculate about.
For Yibo, keeping their relationship private was frustrating, but he understood the necessity. During interviews, he had to resist the urge to stay too close to his Zhan-ge, while Xiao Zhan learned to conceal the fondness in his eyes whenever Yibo did something particularly endearing.
Behind closed doors, however, they could finally be themselves. Whenever their schedules allowed, Yibo would visit Xiao Zhan's apartment, where they spent their precious free time cooking, playing games, or simply resting together. Those quiet moments became their refuge from the exhausting demands of their careers.
But fame also brought difficulties. As rumors and criticism grew, Xiao Zhan occasionally worried that their relationship might eventually hurt them both. Yibo, who had always been protective of him, tried his best to reassure him without dismissing his concerns.
One evening, after a particularly exhausting day, Xiao Zhan finally admitted his fears.
"Yibo, what if one day we can't do this anymore?"
Yibo fell silent before taking his hand.
"That day will never come, I'm not going to leave just because things got difficult."
Xiao Zhan looked at him, seeing the determination behind his usually playful expression.
Their relationship was far from easy, and neither could promise what the future would bring. Nevertheless, they chose to continue, learning to protect what they had while building their individual careers.
For now, their sweet stolen moments and quiet reassurances were enough. And whenever the world becomes too overwhelming, they have each other as a reminder why they had chosen to be together.
