Thalina bit her lip, refusing to let him see how tempting his offer was. She wasn't about to give him the satisfaction. She wouldn't beg for his help. Even if she did look like a mess right now.
"I don't need you to make me anything." She tossed her hair back defiantly, though the words felt hollow the moment they left her mouth.
A small smirk tugged at the corner of Eyrx's lips. "Very well." His gaze lingered on her, sharp, calculating. "But remember, the offer stands."
Thalina narrowed her eyes, determined not to let her thoughts betray her. She couldn't let him win. No way was she going to ask for his help, not when he was so intent on making her feel like she was at his mercy.
Still, there was a strange fluttering in her chest, a warmth creeping up her neck, that she was doing her absolute best to ignore.
"Right," she huffed, pushing herself to her feet, "I'll make something myself. Just—just go do whatever it is you do."
