Chapter 33 - The Roar Beneath the Earth

Because of Kael's petty, short-sighted scheme for revenge, the three of them ended up traveling together.

To call it a mistake would be far too kind.

Was this good for Kael? Of course not. Not in the slightest. Who in their right mind would want to journey alongside a peacock who boasted endlessly, parading his own greatness like a parade float that never stopped moving? Who could tolerate a man—or rather, a bird—who could talk for hours on end without pause, without exhaustion, and certainly without consideration for the fragile state of another person's ears?

At some point along this miserable path, Kael must have realized—truly realized—the stupidity of his childish impulse. He had wanted revenge. He had wanted to spite Shin for his arrogance, to drag him along just to see him suffer, or perhaps to humiliate him in some small way. And yet, the tables had turned. The so-called "revenge" had backfired spectacularly.

Now it was Kael who suffered.
