Mila followed Zyran behind, not because she wanted to but because they were going the same way. Their room was together.
Ever since they left the police station, they hadn't said a word to each other. It made Mila wonder why she was even worried about him in the first place. It wasn't like he cared one bit.
When her phone rang, she picked it up. It was Lacie confirming that she had settled in. Though the background was noisy, Mila got reassurance from her sister that it was just Ashley's playbox.
Inside their room, Zyran removed his shirt, dropping the jacket and shirt on the couch. He took his phone and dialed Alvaro's number.
"Is this you cutting me off?"
Mila stood at the door, listening to their conversation. She didn't hear much, but at intervals, she'd hear Zyran agree to something then chuckle only to agree again.
"I see you got bitten. Okay. Understood," he said, before ending the call. When he turned and saw Mila, he looked away like she wasn't even there.
