The jungle opened around them, vibrant and alive beneath the moonlight. Yoa leapt from one branch to another, his strength sure and graceful, the wind whipping through their hair. Nova clung to him, laughing as they slid along the thick vines and moss-coated boughs. The scent of the forest, the earth, sweet fruit and rain filled the air.
"Do you ever tire of showing off?" She called between laughs.
He grinned at her. "Not when it makes you smile like that."
They reached a high ridge where the canopy opened, revealing the silver stretch of the sea. He paused there, letting her down gently. The world was quiet except for the distant hum of the celebrations all over the island and the rustle of leaves.
She settled herself down, parting her legs so he could step between them. His cheek came to rest against the inside of her thigh, arms folding over her legs until it felt like she was completely surrounded by him.
