Holding the sword and kunai in my hands, I felt as if I had become a swashbuckling buccaneer using the mast as a hyper large dancing pole.
Kunai digging into the wall as the blade in my hand flashed, lasers followed my every movement with incredibly malevolent intent as it carved glowing orange gashes into the wall and ceiling.
And I must say, I really doubted how smart the chain makers were before, but seeing as the big blocky things were tanking the laser shots directly with nothing more than a subtle glow to show for it, they really knew what they were doing.
They really should've made it shorter though.
Feeling the wind whip across my head as bone white teeth nearly scraped the hair off of my head, I swung the blade and felt my body jolt mid swing.
'A tough bastard aren't ya?'
Flipping over to where the blade had stuck itself in Conjunctivius, my hand lit up with flame as it soon spread to the blade stuck into the beast.
Then the smell of burnt flesh entered my nose equivalent.
*SKREEEE
Huffing as I tensed my limbs, I twisted the blade in Conjunctivius as tentacles sprouted out of their side, the big ass eye glaring at me with an angered gaze all the while tentacles lashed out like whips.
'But if I'm near enough to see their eye on this round body, then that means I can hit it.'
Abandoning the sword in the bloated green body, my hand gripped onto one of the many spikes protruding from its body and was slightly shocked when it burned me with what looked like poison.
A bit painful, but no surprise when I just grabbed poison.
Making a mental note to see if I could handle the poison later, my hands opted for the return of daggers instead of the numerous spikes as I clambered over its body all the while tentacles reached around and snapped at me like snakes.
Flames forming on my limbs as I neared their eye in the mere moments I decided to strike it, from the corner of my eye, I caught sight of a tentacle splitting the air in its wake as it neared with its blunt body.
With the speed it was going, the best I could hope for was a broken bone if not several.
Time slowed visibly around me as I contorted my body in ways that I never thought possible, mana flowing through every one of my limbs as the tip of the tentacle missed my leg
And even the wind pressure from that was enough to leave a small cut on my skin.
Time returning to its normal state, my hands manifested a spear which I through with a blast of flames on arm jettisoning it forwards.
SKREEE
Closing their eye lids just in the nick of time before the tip of the spear was able to pierce the thin film protecting Conjunctivius's enormous eye. Flame blossomed like wings on my back.
Taking out a hammer that I had the chance of finding during my walk on the way here, my eyes curved into crescents as flames jettisoned out of the back of the hammer head.
Large block of forged steel flying through the air, the butt end of the spear shattered under its force as the Hammer slammed onto the nail which flew in through their eyelid.
*SHKRE- KEK
Shrieking loudly before it was abruptly cut off, the writhing tentacles wildly desiring my death instantly froze in place.
Falling to the ground, I got into a defensive stance despite the aftershocks travelling through my body as the tentacles made a slow showing of turning towards me.
I had the subtle gut feeling it wasn't over yet.
But it also wasn't the first time my gut feelings were wrong
'Wait no, did it actually die just like that?'
Blinking in mild confusion, I grabbed the chunks of wood which had been broken apart by Conjunctivius's movements and threw them around.
Not after I coated them with flame that is.
Mentally connecting to the lot of them and using the Vine rune to form spikes around their bodies, they wormed their way through the numerous cracks that had found themselves on the wall, hanging off of it like lanterns.
Relying on the natural fire light, I let my eyes adjust to the new flash of light and saw the eye of the Beast.
Or the goop that represented the eye.
Twisting my face in disgust as the white chunks of goop pooled around, a large hole carved directly into the pupil and letting chunks of eye fall to the ground, I suppressed my nausea.
It wasn't everyday that you got to see the remains of a giant eye dripping down like chunks of honey and paper mache..
'And that reminds me, why was I here again?'
Tilting my head in confusion as I wrinkled my nose at the scent of the decaying corpse, I frowned and began to slowly make my way to the exit.
Ripping the numerous doorways making up the massive barrier away to stuff as backup wood, it was only when I was roughly two thirds of the way out of the hole did I realize that I forgot completely about the Alchemists notes.
Recalling how they hung above Conjunctivius, my eye twitched.
'I should've probably recalled this before I collapsed the passage behind me.'
Staring at the partially collapsed passageway, a gust of air left my nose with a sigh as a hammer formed itself in my hand.
Falling into my grasp with a decent heft, I huffed, and I puffed, and I blew it all down.
Then I was buried alive.
---
"Well that's hellishly embarrassing."
Grunting and exerting the last shreds of my strength to rip my leg from underneath the bunny plushy pressing on my leg with the weight of five tons of bricks, outside of a few scrapes and bruises, I didn't seem to have suffered any major injuries.
*Cough
'Well I should've probably reevaluate that.' Wiping my mouth which was tainted with blood as red as crimson, I touched my chest and felt a distinct sharpness coming from the fact that a rib was misplaced.
'I think this island is messing with my concept of pain.'
Forcefully pushing my chest in with my hand and hearing the distinct snap of bone setting back in place, I recalled how this type of pain would've had my pre-death. No. My pre multiple death self grunting with hesitant pain.
Now I won't bat an eye as long as I don't literally lose my head.
*Slap
'Focus on the task at hand before the whole island is plunged into an unending moment where every moment blends into each other.'
Slapping my face and feeling the sharp pain snap me back to my senses, I looked around.
By now, most of the makeshift lamps had burnt out, but outside of a few that remained, it was still enough to see...
"A tentacle?"
Staring at Conjunctivius's corpse which had stopped bleeding eye fluid by now, a tentacle had at some point spawned from within it and lay prone against the ground.
Now I wasn't one to question things, except the fact that it entered my inventory unwillingly like any other items that I got from slaying the ever increasing number of death.
Glancing at my inventory, I saw that it was classified as a... whip?
That made a modicum of sense.
And I wasn't one to judge where a weapon came from even if it was once the appendage of some super large and ugly looking monster set on eating me.
'...'
Okay, maybe I was one to judge.
Opting for the kunai and its long string instead of the tentacle, I launched the blade deep into the ceiling and kicked off of the ground, relying on the kunai to guide me towards the platform where the Alchemist had kept their things.
I would've liked to use a less physically intensive mode for travel, but the previous fight with Conjunctivius had destroyed the walkway.
'That reminds me, I should try and take the chains, they were strangely durable.'
Recalling how the chains had withstood a bloody laser with nary a scratch and only a glow to show for it, I flipped over to the platform where the Alchemist stored their things and nearly stumbled.
'First try baby.'
Standing up straight and shifting to the fire head for some better lighting, I picked up the nearest important looking diary and began to read it.
Then I remembered that Conjunctivius had done wonders to the places stability with their laser beams and angry biting when the platform I stood on fell down.
'You've got to be kidding me.'
