Chapter 20 - Alchemy

After returning back to the room, he ate the food that was served to him and started to ponder how to go outside for a hunt.

Previously, he was thinking of going alone to hunt the beasts, but after getting some information from the book, he had a much better plan.

After finishing his food, he went outside to search for some things he thought might be useful for him later on.

After asking for directions from the receptionist, he went outside. Walking for some time, he came across a big store that had lots of people going in and out.

As he entered, a pleasant fragrance greeted him, wafting gently through the air. Looking around, he noticed rows of neatly arranged herbs lining the shelves, each labeled clearly with its name.

Many people were also looking at the shelves and asking the assistant behind them, while some smelled it and looked at the herbs carefully.

Neuman did the same and came near the shelf and looked at the herbs in front of him. He picked up one of the herbs that was giving off a nice smell. Just as he touched the herb, a notification popped in front of him.

[Detected a herb!]

[Do you wish to convert the herb into medical points]

Neuman glanced around to make sure no one was watching. Then, feigning a casual motion, he pretended to return the herb to its place. The moment his hand released it, the herb vanished.

[+5 medical points]

Neuman didn't look at the notification and just moved around the shelves smelling some herbs; some were quite fragrant, but some smelled quite awful. But just as he puts the herb back, it vanishes and is turned into medical points.

Doing this, he had already gained around 100 medical points. One of the assistants saw his behavior and came near him and smiled. "Sir, did any of them catch your attention? This batch just arrived yesterday and is quite fresh."

Neuman nodded without looking back and said, "What's the price of palefern, whispergrass, emberpetal, and moonshade herb?"

The assistant heard the names and opened the book in his hand and started to turn them one by one while looking at them carefully.

Neuman had already thought about what he had to say if someone were to question him about anything, and he named those herbs that were giving him more medical points.

Among them, palefern and whispergrass gave 5 points, emberpetal and moonshade herb gave 10 points, while others gave less than 5 points.

After some time the assistant checked and told the price: "Sir, palefern and whispergrass cost 1 silver per stalk, and emberpetal and moonshade herb cost 5 silver per stalk."

Neuman thought for some time, then said, "Ok, then give me 20 stalks of palefern and whispergrass each."

Hearing this, the assistant's eyes widened. He hurriedly said, "Sir, please wait a moment. I will bring all those herbs to you soon."

With that he ran away, while Neuman continued to look around and check other herbs. This way, till the assistant returned, he had already gained more than 200 medical points, and the points were still increasing.

There were more than 100 different herbs in the store, and the store was quite big and stretched quite far. After some time he sat down on one of the seats that were designated there. He had already remembered the names of herbs that were giving him more medical points.

There were only around 10 herbs that were providing him more than 5 medical points.

It didn't take long before the assistant returned and said, "Sir, the herbs are ready and are at the front desk."

Neuman nodded and followed the assistant back to the front desk, where two bags were resting. He opened the bags one by one and checked the herbs inside.

Neuman nodded and placed the gold coin he had received from the commander onto the desk. The assistant blinked in surprise but quickly composed himself, picked up the coin, and said, "Sir, please wait a moment. I'll bring the rest of the money."

While the assistant stepped away, Neuman slipped his hand into the bag once more. After a quick glance around to confirm no one was watching, he discreetly converted the herbs inside into medical points.

Nueman gained an additional 200 points from the herbs directly. As he stood up, the assistant also returned with the money.

He gave the big pouch of money to Neuman and said, "Sir, here is the remaining 60 silver."

Neuman accepted the pouch and exited the store, heading back to his room—it was only a five-minute walk from the hotel, after all.

Once inside, he settled in and opened the [Alchemy] section. His eyes flicked to the Energy Recovery Potion, and without hesitation, he tapped on it.

[5 Medical points required]

Neuman confirmed, and instantly, five medical points were deducted from his total. A faint glow shimmered in the air as a vial began to materialize before him. Slowly, the swirling light gathered into a small glass container holding a murky, pale potion.

He leaned in, studying the vial with a discerning eye. Popping the cap open, he gave it a light sniff—but no particular smell came from the potion. Without hesitation, Neuman raised it to his lips and took a small, experimental sip.

Neuman suddenly felt his energy return, which was exhausted from a full day of running around. The recovery was mild and fleeting—just enough for a slight relief. Without hesitation, he downed the rest of the vial.

This time, the effect hit harder. A rush of vitality flooded his body, chasing away the lingering exhaustion. His eyes widened in surprise.

Without wasting another moment, Neuman opened the [Alchemy] menu and queued up twenty more Energy Recovery Potions, spending 100 medical points in a swift exchange.

Just as the last potion was completed, another notification popped up.

[Energy Recovery Potion is improved]

Neuman was surprised by the unexpected notification, then turned his attention to the [Alchemy] section. Not only was the Energy Recovery Potion glowing faintly, its icon was now brighter, and a new option had appeared just beneath it.

[Alchemy]

--Medical Points: 342--

Energy Recovery Potion (Level 2) - 5 M.P

Healing Potion (Level 1) - 10 M.P

Intrigued, Neuman tapped on the Healing Potion. The cost of a healing potion was 10 medical points each, so he decided to craft ten of them.

100 medical points were deducted, and the healing potions started to shimmer, one by one, forming a neat row in front of him. Within moments, ten healing potions lay softly on the table. Neuman's lips curved into a smile.

He hadn't expected to unlock these today.
