Chapter 62 - Chapter 62 Unsettling, Yet Comfortable Knot In Her Stomach

Aurelia tensed as his hands snaked around her.

A second later, he pulled away, sniffing. "You smell different."

"That's because…" She was about to tell him how the past few weeks had gone when he chuckled, cutting her off.

"You smell amazing. Doesn't surprise me much. The air here is much better than where we used to be."

Aurelia clenched her jaw and forced a smile, nodding slightly in agreement.

"The food and water are clean too. The beds are also soft and great to sleep on."

"You don't say." Damien laughed softly, "The boys are masters at archery now. They even join in hunting for food. I wish you could've seen them a few days ago when they returned with game they killed."

A brief silence settled between them before he leaned toward her, pressing his face to the nape of her neck.

"About a month ago, the only son of Georgia and Ray was killed. His heart was ripped out of his chest."

Aurelia gasped, turning to him in disbelief.
