Chapter 851 - Chapter 1106 - Getting on the right track

Both Honchkrow and Blaziken benefited greatly from the recent training and energy absorption. The advantages they gained were not merely short-term power boosts; the long-term benefits promised to be even more significant, potentially enhancing their growth rates and overall potential for some time to come. After the intense period of activity, a full day of rest was deemed necessary for all involved Pokemon to properly integrate their new strength and recover.

It was originally thought that Gengar would be able to absorb the mysterious energy at a rate comparable to Blaziken and the others, perhaps a little slower but not significantly so. The reality, however, proved to be quite different from this initial expectation. A long and uncertain waiting period began. Without any clear preparation or timeline, they simply waited for Gengar to complete its process every day, which ultimately resulted in the entire team being stationed at the location for an extended duration. Two whole weeks passed in this manner. Aoki never imagined that Gengar's absorption of the unique energy would require a full two weeks of continuous, motionless concentration.

Two weeks later, just as Aoki was about to take the other Pokémon out for their daily training session, Gengar, which had been completely motionless and shrouded in a thick, swirling gray-black fog, finally began to show signs of change. He immediately put down what he was doing and hurried over to the open space where Gengar was situated. The dense gray-black mist seemed to be sucked into a vacuum cleaner, swirling violently before pouring all at once into Gengar's round belly. Jiejie—— Gengar slowly opened its eyes and let out a soft, characteristic cry. When it saw Aoki, it was unclear how much time had passed; the sensation felt like a single moment, but also strangely like an entire century had drifted by.

The energy was profoundly powerful and carried an extremely corrosive quality. Gengar could only grind away at it bit by bit, slowly and meticulously digesting this potent energy. Hastily consuming it would have risked a complete loss of sanity and self-control. Fortunately, Gengar had already absorbed a tiny trace of this energy into its body previously, so the problem of absorption was not insurmountable, merely troublesome and time-consuming. This was unlike the energy from the Ho-Oh feathers, which could be absorbed more freely and willingly, which was why Honchkrow and Blaziken had been able to finish their process so quickly.

Aoki looked over Gengar carefully. The spikes on its back appeared sharper and more pronounced, and its dark purple body now had a deeper, slightly blacker hue to it, making its overall color noticeably darker. The rest of its appearance had not changed dramatically.

Originally, after absorbing the unique black energy during the previous incident, Gengar's aptitude had been upgraded to light blue. Aoki was not surprised that it was now able to achieve a promotion to blue qualification after absorbing such a vast amount of powerful energy. Its level also increased by two, reaching level 68. Once again, it surpassed Honchkrow and Slowking to become the highest-level Pokémon currently under Aoki's care. More importantly, Gengar was capable of Mega Evolution. According to the level accumulation method following Mega Evolution, Gengar would possess strength equivalent to a senior Elite Four level Pokémon after evolution. Senior Elite Four level.

Now, Aoki's teacher, the acting Elite Four member of the Hoenn region, Matsuda, had his strongest Pokémon at the senior Elite Four level. After reviewing Gengar's updated move list, Aoki felt a slight pang of disappointment. There was a small gap in his heart. It had not learned Giratina's exclusive skill, Shadow Force. But upon further reflection, he felt relieved. These things could not be forced too much, as not all Pokemon could learn the exclusive moves of legendary Pokemon. Shadow Force was a physical attack, and Gengar's physical attack capability was genuinely not good; even if it had learned the move, it likely could not have exerted its full power and intended effect. That Gengar's aptitude had been promoted and its overall qualifications improved was more than enough.

"Gengar, how are you feeling? Do you sense anything unusual?" Aoki asked with concern. Hearing this, Gengar was momentarily stunned, then closed its eyes to concentrate and feel its body thoroughly. It shook its head slowly, indicating that it had not found anything wrong or out of place. Seeing that Gengar did not appear to be adversely affected, Aoki breathed a quiet sigh of relief. He had been overly wary of the energy's origins, fearing that some latent influence might have been left on Gengar. If Ho-Oh had said it was okay, then it probably was, but Aoki still wanted to confirm it personally before he could feel completely at ease.

After confirming that Gengar was perfectly fine, Aoki felt a significant weight lift from his shoulders. Slowly, a strong and undeniable sense of pride welled up within him. At this moment, he finally possessed a level of strength he had always longed for in his previous life. Although it was still not enough to be considered truly independent and top-tier in the vast Pokemon world, it at least afforded him a considerable measure of self-protection ability and respect. Of course, the Kommo-o also had to be taken into account as a major factor in his team's overall power.

All six Pokémon, including Aggron, Slowking, Gengar, Shelgon, Weavile, and Florges, had reached the level of official Elite Four tier. Gengar could also Mega Evolve, granting it power that could burst forth in a short period, rivaling some senior Elite Four-level Pokémon. Tyranitar, Blaziken, Aggron, and Swampert had all successfully broken through to the Elite Four level as well. During these two weeks, Swampert had also managed to enter the Elite Four level. These four Pokemon were all capable of Mega Evolution, and their burst combat power within a short window could reach official Elite Four tier. It was just that Aoki had not yet obtained the Mega Stone for Swampert.

Aoki held very high expectations for the three Pokémon: Tyranitar, Blaziken, and Aggron. Their upper limits might very well determine how far Aoki could eventually grow as a Trainer. Especially Tyranitar. Aoki now possessed the only Pokemon with purple-level aptitude, a talent worthy of a legendary beast. Then there were Shelgon, Horsea, Kirlia, and Riolu, who had just started their training. These four little ones also possessed immense potential. Their growth pace would likely be even slower than that of Tyranitar and the others, because Aoki's core combat team was already established, allowing them more time to solidify their foundations without rush. When these youngsters grew up, it would almost signify that Aoki's battle tactics were fully formed and optimized.

Shelgon, Kirlia, and Riolu—the potential of these three Pokémon was not inferior to Tyranitar's, and Aoki held high hopes for their future development. Among them, the levels of Shelgon and Horsea were relatively high, both having reached level 39, which placed them on the very edge of the Elite level. Aoki hoped to further develop their latent potential and successfully promote them to the Elite level properly. As for Kirlia and Riolu, the level difference was still quite significant. Finally, there were the mutated Carbink and the Vigoroth that had just been subdued. Aoki had not yet decided on a definitive training plan for these two Pokémon. The Carbink needed to wait for its transformation period to conclude; its body shape had already changed significantly, becoming more slender and defined. As for the Vigoroth, Aoki's ultimate goal was to train it into a Slaking capable of bursting out with significant combat power at any moment, unaffected by its Truant ability, even if only for a very short period. This would require careful research and a unique approach. Aoki would not be able to utilize the Vigoroth in the short term, as it would take a considerable amount of time to truly tame it and develop its capabilities. Everything was progressing steadily and on the right track.
