Chapter 50 - Journey to the Everflowing Blackwood

The morning mist clung to the towers of Luminar Academy, curling around the spires like spectral fingers. The previous battles at Norway and Maple Academies had left scars—both on the grounds and on our minds—but the sense of achievement lingered. Brown, now fully humanoid and commanding the undead with ease, patrolled the outer wards with a quiet authority. Malina's spectral beasts—Stephene Stone, wolves, birds, and spirits—moved gracefully, reinforcing the protective spells we had set.

I tightened the straps on my satchel, the weight of my divine core still pulsing faintly as Brown's aura hummed beside me. Lyra squeezed my hand gently, giving me a reassuring smile. "Are you ready for the next stage?" she asked softly.

I nodded. "We are. But first… we have another mission. Pallas, Luminor, and I are heading to the Everflowing Blackwood Forest. The Queen awaits us. There's much we need to discuss before we strike Van and Dox."

Luminor adjusted his robes, expression serene as always. "The forest is ancient, powerful. The Queen is wise. Our visit must be respectful and deliberate. She will offer guidance… perhaps allies."

Pallas, in her human form, flicked her tail slightly, her emerald eyes gleaming. "I haven't been back in a while. The Everflowing Blackwood has changed since I last visited. The Queen will notice."

I felt a twinge of anticipation. The Blackwood Forest had always held secrets—magical flora, ancient creatures, and energies older than any academy we had known. To visit the Queen was to enter a world of whispers and hidden power. Yet, with Brown and my friends ready for the battles ahead, I felt confident we could navigate it safely.

---

We mounted our horses and began the journey westward. The path was dappled with sunlight filtering through dense, black-barked trees. The forest stretched endlessly, a living labyrinth of twisting roots, thick undergrowth, and rivers of silvery water that flowed like liquid glass. The air smelled of damp earth and magic.

Pallas led the way, moving with a grace that only someone attuned to the forest could manage. Luminor and I followed, keeping close to each other, while Brown floated silently behind us. Though humanoid, his aura radiated calm authority, and even in the wilds of the forest, the undead under his command remained contained within the boundaries he established.

As we progressed, I noticed subtle shifts in the air. Magical energies swirled faintly around the roots and streams, hinting at wards and enchantments laid long ago. I felt the pulse of the forest, steady and observant, as if it were alive and aware of our intentions.

> "The Queen will sense our arrival," I murmured to Luminor.

He nodded, voice low. "Yes. And she will test us, subtly. Be prepared for illusions, trials, or questions that may not have simple answers."

Pallas's ears twitched. "She does not take kindly to arrogance or selfish motives. Approach with humility."

---

As we ventured deeper, a faint mist enveloped us. The forest floor seemed to ripple, roots curling to form subtle paths, guiding us forward. Birds with feathers glinting like shards of glass flitted overhead, and spectral wolves padded silently alongside us, guardians of the Queen's domain. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, as if the forest itself were aware of the pending confrontation with Van and Dox.

Brown spoke beside me, his voice calm but commanding. "Kael, remember that all battles—both in the mortal and demonic realms—require clarity of mind. The Queen will offer insight, but you must be receptive. This forest is ancient; its power is not granted lightly."

I nodded, feeling the steady pulse of his aura. "I understand. We need guidance to prepare for Van and Dox. The South and West Academies will not wait."

> "Strategy, patience, and foresight," Brown continued. "Those are your true allies, even more than the undead or magic."

I couldn't help but remember his earlier words—the motivational quote he had shared just days before:

> "Everyone wants fast results, but true success comes through consistency and time. Otherwise, it lacks training or mastery of a mindset. All you have to do is prove you are on the right path. Remember this: you don't lose when you fail; you lose when you quit."

Even now, walking through the living labyrinth of the Everflowing Blackwood, his wisdom resonated. I realized that battles were not merely physical—they were tests of patience, willpower, and understanding.

---

After several hours, we reached a clearing where the air shimmered with a silver glow. Ancient trees encircled a pool of water that reflected the sky like a flawless mirror. A figure emerged—a regal woman with flowing hair the color of twilight, eyes deep and piercing, and robes adorned with patterns of leaves and stars. The Queen of the Everflowing Blackwood Forest.

Pallas stepped forward, bowing slightly. "Your Majesty, we have come to seek guidance. Kael Eldrath, and Luminor of Luminar Academy, come in earnest."

The Queen's gaze swept over us, sharp yet not unkind. "You come seeking advice, yet you carry the weight of many lives and battles upon your shoulders. Tell me… what is it you wish to learn, and what do you offer in return?"

I took a deep breath. "Your Majesty, we face powerful demons—Van, Dox, Lindon, Nox. We have reclaimed Norway and Maple Academies, but the threat persists. We need guidance, allies, and understanding of powers beyond our own to protect the lands and the people."

She studied me, her eyes lingering on the faint pulse of divine energy in my aura. "I see your companion," she said, her gaze falling on Brown, who had stepped forward respectfully. "He is… unusual. Not just an undead commander, but a being of insight and guidance."

Brown bowed slightly. "I serve Kael, Your Majesty, and lend both strategic and motivational support to his allies."

The Queen raised an eyebrow. "Motivational support, indeed?" Her lips curved in a subtle smile. "Interesting. Few understand that strength without guidance is hollow. Kael Eldrath, you have much to learn, yet your heart is steadfast. I will grant you knowledge of the forest's deeper magics and insight into the balance between mortal and demonic realms. But first, you must demonstrate humility and understanding of your allies' strengths."

Luminor nodded solemnly. "We are prepared."

Pallas flicked her tail, ears twitching. "We understand the trials. We are ready."

I felt Lyra's hand squeeze mine once again, a reminder that even amidst strategy and diplomacy, our bonds gave us strength. Brown's presence beside us radiated calm authority, and the forest itself seemed to approve.

The Queen extended her hand, and the waters of the pool began to shimmer, revealing visions: the South Academy with Van manipulating his minions, the West Academy with Dox performing inhuman experiments, and glimpses of the broader demonic realm.

> "Knowledge is power," the Queen's voice echoed softly. "Understand your enemies not just by force, but by insight. Only then can true strategy emerge."

I exhaled slowly, feeling the weight of responsibility settle on me once again. With Brown, Lyra, my friends, and the Queen's guidance, we had the tools to confront Van and Dox. Yet, it was clear: the coming battles would test not only our strength but our patience, wisdom, and unity.

Brown spoke beside me, voice low but resolute. "Kael, you have learned much, but remember: the journey is as important as the victory. Trust your friends, trust yourself, and trust in the path you follow."

I nodded, heart steady. "We will. And we will not falter."

The Queen's eyes softened slightly. "Go now, with clarity and purpose. The forest watches over you, and the balance favors those who act with wisdom and unity."

We bowed deeply, and the journey back through the Everflowing Blackwood began. The lessons of the forest, the wisdom of the Queen, and the guidance of Brown settled into my mind like seeds ready to grow.

> "The battles ahead will be difficult," I thought, glancing at my friends riding alongside me. "But together, we will face them. With strategy, unity, and perseverance, nothing can stop us."

The Everflowing Blackwood faded behind us, but its lessons would remain. And with Brown, my friends, and Lyra by my side, I felt a sense of calm resolve. The war was far from over—but we were ready.
