"We're about to collide, run away now!!"
Panic-stricken shouts filled the carriage, spreading fear through the crowd. The dense footsteps, like a drumbeat, reverberated through the floor of the carriage, transmitting to inside the cardboard box where Taira Sakurako sat, making her increasingly uneasy.
She clasped her head in both hands, covering her ears, eyes tightly shut.
The swaying of the carriage reminded her again of the fear of weightlessness from that day.
"Someone changed the tracks, we're about to crash, jump off now—"
Taira Sakurako heard the shout. She patted her own leg, forcing herself to open her eyes and peek outside through the gaps in the cardboard box. She saw ankles running back and forth outside, like trees with legs running wildly.
She couldn't die yet...
She was about to find her mother, how could she die on the way?
